Sound volume (not music)?

I searched the forum and found some posts about sounds, but not just what i wanted to ask about.

In my game, i need to drag the music volume slider very far to the left (towards minimum), almost all the way, to hear the soundeffects when music is playing. Because of this, i must up the volume on my speakers very high. It works ok like this, but i've been sceared half to death a couple of times when i forgot to lower the volume before quitting Mount&Blade!!

I have my speaker at maybe 75% volume while playing (and they are big speakers, with a big sub...) Normally 10-15% might be enough.

I downloaded a soundmod from this forum, where someone had changed a lot of the soundeffects and also upped their volume. It's a little bit better with this but it's still FAR from what i'd like.

Maybe there's something wrong in the setup of my game, but i couldn't find any other soundsettings than thoose two sliders in the optionmenu?

I also checked the soundeffect files in the sounds folder, and if i play them directly (out of the game) their volume is perfectly normal.

Any ideas?

in my opinnion the sounds are fine and I dont even have sound effect slider at max. Maybe sound card have something to do with it? or is it just me?

I have to crank my volume up just to hear things like the horse hooves decently. I figured maybe it was only my comp, at least know I know others are noticing it too.

I've got the same problem: music at 10%, effects at 100%, and speakers at 50% or more when they should be at 25%.

The sound effects, both in volume and variety, need additional work. There are times when I almost feel like I'm in a silent movie as the volume fades and then increases to almost normal. The Suggestion forums has multiple posts with additional requests for sounds, sound effects, etc., so we're not alone.

The sound mod does add variety and it's worth downloading. Still, I believe that extra attention paid to increasing the weapons effects, horse sounds, combat chatter, voice variety, etc. would pay off enormously in increased immersion and atmosphere.
