Sound Issues with NW - Thoughts/Answers? - INCLUDES POSSIBLE FIX

UPDATE
RESOLVED - READ BELOW TO FURTHER POSTS FOR POSSIBLE FIX - RESULTS MAY VARY

So, as we all know, with release of new NW there come the testing and bug findings. Well, I have seen many people, like myself, having the same problem with sound!

- Main Issues with sound -
--No/few environmental sounds
--No/few character movement sounds/allied movements
--No/few Cavalry gallop sounds
--No/few firing sounds
--No/few reload sounds
--No/few ambients (cross map war cries/allied warcries/distant shots/close shots/hit sounds/ricochet/deaths/musicians)
--etc. sound effects like officer orders not coming through

Some times of course one will tend to hear a/an effect momentarily and think "oh joy, its working" and then the silence comes back only to dissapoint even further.

Things that have been suggested/ tried/ failed
-Enabling music
-Disabling music
-Updating warband to newest version
-checking drivers
-checking retailer (Most will have bought from steam)
-checking game cache via steam
-varifying key
-Re-Downloading completely
-Restarting computer
-Restarting steam
-Configuring sound devices (Multiple default devices believed to cut out sounds, but not proven)

What I have yet to do, but am willing to try, is having someone upload thier files (that has no sound problem) and replace my own with his/her working files. Hoping this will somehow solve the problem if perhaps my DLC was interupted or missing files in some way.

What are everyones thoughts?
-Suggestions on how these buggy sounds can be rectified?
-The game just came out, bound to happen?
-In time the game will work itself out?
-Will there be a bug/sound patch in the future? When?
-Unable to find help, and just going to deal with buggy sound? ( sad but it's what I am going with till fixed )

Any actual ideas and suggestion not mentioned above are welcome, keep the trolling to the minimum... Please. We who are having this problem would like to enjoy the game to its fullest and are looking for clean clear results!

Hoping that this topic will help multiple members of the NW community overcome the current sound issues. So keep it going till a surefire way to deal with problems are found!

Feel free to drop in and bump for new developments and further insight on the topic issue

Thank you

The actual problem is, that the sound channels get overlaoded. Warband only has 100 sound channels and when you have 200 guys walking, you already have to many sound channels playing.
We tried to fix this problem with getting priorities for specials sounds. For example, footsteps should not be played if someone is shooting.

Since the new version it somehow seems a bit bugged, but we are working on it. Strangely, I could fix the problem for me, with just making the ingame sound abit quiter.
It is not related to it at all, and makes no sense, but you could try this aswell. Other than that I am really sorry for the problem, and we are looking into fixing it.

Thanks for the quick reply

Sound channels overloading... Is there a way to regulate the channels. Hotfix? Self tinkering options?

In other news.... My own problem was resolved. Results and what I did below.

Well after 2 hours of figiting around with settings to no avail, I finally decided to call up my Microsoft Tech Support.

WHAT WORKED FOR ME - NOT RECOMENDED - DISCLAIMER
I have a 700 dollar subscription to a support team that took my computer via OS sharing software and completely redefined/fixed/amplified settings.

I also asked them to back my computer up fairly far and save important docs onto a saved cache file for future use.

What I did afterwards

ALL DEFAULT SETTING FOR NW
-DO NOT DISSABLE MUSIC IN THE LAUNCHER - I messed with this both ways after I had my computer set back and it seems the actual sounds that were missing are all actually part of the game music itself. Wierd. But the sounds come back if you ENABLE MUSIC. If you dissable them, the sounds are buggy again. (Just turn it down completely in the in game options)
-Yes I did try enabling previously, but what was wrong was a windows update I had actually dissabled something in my sounds hardware causing a mess with everything that ran sound playback, including up to internet explore, itunes, spotify, ventrilo, teamspeak ect. media. More details below, and what to do to avoid such problems.

TLDR? (Too long, didn't read)

Role back your computer to previous NW DL'ing, Re-Install Warband and NW, and restore ALL DEFAULT SETTINGS, INCLUDING MUSIC [ENABLE] in the launcher.

-If this worked for you, gradually start changes to your likings, graphic wise until the game is fully functional with your desired settings. Going all at once may not be the best idea, as you may not be able to pinpoint a problem as each setting is tuned.

-Additional info on my own problem-
Windows updates can sometimes cause your settings to your OS sound and playback devices to go haywire, create a backup before going through with them! This was the main problem the Tech support notified me of. It caused multiple of my games to lose functionality, as well as other devices and programs such as ventrilo, teamspeak. Noticed the changes immidiately after fix.

As for those who still have a problem after attempting to do as I have, I will continue to view this thread and help as much as I can! The struggle to correct my gaming experience was a success but I do not expect all to have the rescources I have at hand.

Further thoughts? Questions? Feel free to continue posting! It can only help!

Thank you

I actually solved the problem [for me]: My issue (at least for not hearing the music part) was because I had forgotten that I had checked the "Disable Music" box in the Warband launcher when I had played long ago. When I unchecked it, I heard music in-game, and all other sounds were there as they were supposed to be. Could be a bug that certain sounds are disabled when the music is, but that seemed to fix it for me.

I agree with the certain sounds being dissaabled when not having music enabled. It started working after all that junk I did, and enabled music.

Glad you could add feedback!

Still doesn't work for me.

Very frustrating..

Try contacting the flying squirl dev team. They seem to know how abouts this problem can be resolved.

Also, mind adding what exactly is going wrong with your game. That could pinpoint the problem a tad more!
