Sound and Music experience

I know we can add our own songs by editing the txt file but I seriously hope something will be done regarding the sound, little seems to have change since 0.6XX well some hurrahs and ouch’s been added during battle.

Sometimes there are long dead periods between songs and even when on they aren’t very compelling are they? nice but monotonous.

Adding more sounds and specially music from the historical era would seriously improve immersion. It would be great to see troubadours/street performers in the town streets especially if the song/act performed would vary to represent the different kingdoms.

Great things have been done in terms of gameplay and visual effects but sound seems to have been left behind, understandable but sad (at least for me) especially in a game that thrives to capture a certain era.

I would also boost the sound of the horses’ gallop, even though it seems quite real it’s too “clean” and lacks bass. One of the most remarking things when riding a horse is the impact/sound of the horses’ legs touching the ground.  Even nowadays horses are one of the most effective crowds control/dispersal methods, boosting the sound would be the best way to recreate the experience for both the rider and the poor infantry soldier being charged at

Just max your woofer (if you got one) while playing M&B and experience the difference.

Are the minstrels still there? Does anyone know what they'll do when they're ready? What I'd like to see most is different music in different scenes. Is it too expensive to get well made music, by the way?

Yep they are but Minstrels mostly performed songs involving events/stories fictional or not. Considering the recently added background on the player character i am guessing once implemented they will simply tell the story of the player and maybe other lords and NPCs.

I am also sure it will be more in the line of text dialogues.

Some street performers playing music would be great though. Especially because it would had to the town environment and possibly differentiate to which kingdom the town belongs.

It would be kinda cool if they broke into song like some dudes do in the game STALKER

I have to agree with steele.

You come up next to a fire with a few other stalkers, hunker down and one of them pulls a guitar out of nowhere and starts playing. Its just a really nice touch. Would love to have something like that in the evenings in M&B when you camp.

New sounds & music would be tits. Ever since I discovered the Cries of War soundpack, I have refused to play with native sounds. Music needs an overhaul as well if you ask me. It's nice, but hasn't been changed a bit(or very, very, VERY little) since I discovered M&B 3 years ago, and is starting to get a bit repetitive.

Last change i can recall was the celebrations at the end of the battle minimal feature and done ages ago.

I really don't like the music. I actually disable it in the settings. The sounds are not that bad but could be better.

I don't like the music at all either. For a while I used Medieval: Total War tracks, but now I play with music turned off. I don't really miss it either. Cries of War is good - particularly the bolts/arrows, but the horse movements dont' do it for me and it obviously doesn't address the vocals, which are far too cartoony for my liking.

The street musicians would be a great thing to implement, but I do see a problem with it....
It would most certainly up the loading times to a city by a very long time.
But I agree on it, and to some npc's starting to play a tune or two.

The best would have been to revamp the entire sound spectre of this game IMO,
because I do get tired of being able to hum the entire tune even before it has gone a second of it.

So in a sentence: I support this proposal

One thing about the music is that the decibel level isn't on par with the sounds. If you set the sliders equally, the music extremely overpowers the sounds. They should be normalized.

Some sounds that i know have been added in the 9xx series:

- Dog barking in town scenes
- Town/city crowd ambience
- Night time owl sound
- gold/coin sound
- blacksmith/carpenter city sound
- arena crowd sound for tournaments
- chicken sounds for towns

Humm actually missed those... havent played much of .95x waiting for a more stable version. Did notice the dog barking in towns though quite simple but very fitting.

These were good, although I'd lower the chickens and dogs a touch. Crickets would be another nice ambient sound. The crowd applause improves the arena atmosphere significantly.

Sounds need a lot of attention. There's no crossbow crank noise (or am I thinking of an arbalest?) and the steel shield hit sounds the same as a wooden shield hit...

Of course, the gravest issue with sound may be that all battles sound identical - hooves, 2 or 3 voices repeating the same screams, all weapons of a material sounding the same...

There where a few voice enhncement packs -- not sure if those got added in or not.

I'd try the older music packs, but I am unsure if they'll still work.

Nope they never got added. I will crate a vocals soundpack mod for 9.53 once the tools are out.
