Sergeant at Arms
...since it was closed before I  (and probably other players) had a say.

There's a new strategy game by AGEOD called Montjoie! also based on the Hundred Year's War. Well, in this game, they have not only the English and the French but also Burgundy, Navarre, and Flanders. I honestly think these three factions should be added in a future version of this AWESOME mod. Not only to add chaos to the war but also more choices for players. And probably also a nod to the original five factions in Vanilla M&B.

And also the duchy of Britanny, an independent duchy until the battle of Saint Aubin du Cormier in 1488. Its change side several times (neutrality against the French and war against the English) and was a needed strategic territory for both English and French. 3 "Connétables de France" were Britons : Bertrand du Guesclin, Olivier de Clisson and Arthur de Richemont (futur Arthur III duke of Britanny). In Joan of Arc period, the Brittons were a least the half of the french army.

Well, I'm not very knowledgeable on the Hundred Years War, but I just think that five factions is a good number. But thanks to this mod, I'm starting to read up a bit on it.

Llew mentioned that he changed his mind and he will add some mercenaries instead. Genoese, swiss, burgundy and flemish perhaps, but nothing is clear right now.

That is the current plan, yes. The whole mod is pretty much going to get a complete makeover. New troop trees, better map, all new armor textures, etc.

Expect screeys of the new Longbowmen latter today. I think you'll like them.

EDIT: Check them out:

Yeah, that thread didn't stay open very long.  And one of the posts was from someone who thought there weren't any other factions in the 100 years war, which is a bit wrong!

I think ideally there should be some sort of representation of the other factions, whether just through heraldry on armour, or with whole  factions.  But it's not a high priority, compared to getting the next version released so I can use some of those superb looking new Longbowmen!

omg... really sorry to ressurect this post also but I couldn't help myself. If you put only the English and French togethor the gameplay becomes simplistic on a large scale. With additional factions, gameplay opens up to a much more dynamic world of alliances, additional mini wars, betrayals and occasional backstabbing, and the such. I would support the input of more factions, if its not to late that is to have that opinion even though v4.2 is still hot. just putting out the word. Thanks all.

Well, once upon a time, I woke up and played the mod, glanced at the date, saw the vanilla 1257 and since it was a HYW mod my brain automatically recorded "1357", thought "hey, that's a great date, because it allows for a few smaller factions!" and wrote this as suggestions... Well, this was useless, since the mod's date is iirc 1371, but I still dream of a 1357 mod be done. Or a 1420's...

You bring up a good point. How does one change that date?

That even opens up a bigger can of worms; specific event-type stuff on some given date in history would be an absolute blast, if that kind of historical data is available. Maybe I just miss TLD, though.

Oh well, at least this sexy mod will help keep me company until September...

I think I stumbled on a list of all the battles of the HYW at some point. Can't recall if it was a book or on the net. I know in my books the map of the area change a lot as time change. There are maybe 3-4 phases to that war, and it's like the english attack from a point (I think it was close to normandy ?) , but then everyone there get on the side of the french. then they reattack from another place. What a crazy war.

What would be cool would be something similar to the jihad in crusaders, bu that would litteraly spawn hugue armies on the points of historical battles !  and the fate of the world would change according to the result of those battles, like it could affect the spawning of support troops perhaps. But unfortunately I don't think M&B engine can do this. Otherwise we would have new faction and invasions spawning out of nowhere in native.

Another thing that could be interesting, and this may be feasible, because "custom troops mod" does it. As the war went on, technology and equipment (and experience) changed. So I imagine this: some sort of script that spawn at certain date and suddenly "upgrades" your troops (change their equipments, maybe even stats and skills)

Alternatively, the factions could "invest in research" to develop technology, and then it goes as above (but this is dangerously easy for the player to exploit)

Santa, I don't mean to bash you but you are leaning away from the topic. This should be in a discussion for the native suggestions, not HYM thread.

it would be great if the brittish isles were added with Tyrone, Ulster, Connaught and Scottland as new factions. That way you can actually beat England and not just drive them away.

Hegemony 286 BC mod has the ability to travel over the seas at certain places. Craftsmansmod or something has even ships but they dont work right

just travelling over should be good enough. It might be a bit weird, but im sure its worth it.. Never bugged me in hegemony
