Something Confusing

There's something I don't understand in mutliplayer when lancing another horseman. It's that you can extend your lance to it's farthest but he'll still kill you, even through by logic he'd come into contact with your extended lance first. This is assuming both lances are the same, which they are.

Ive always seen the extended lance connect first,  perhaps you are using a shorter lance?  or the other guy is aiming more 'efficiently'  (ie: you may be putting your lance at an angle that reduces range)

Nope, it's the same lance. He kept saying he, "Was a great horseman and knew the tactics" I really thought he must've been hacking, since in my brain there's no way a lance released later could beat a fully extended lance.

as far as i am aware,  its not easy to hack warband.  he may well have just been aiming and timing the thrust perfectly  (timing is important, since he will reach max length at 'just' the right time),  whereas you may have had your lance at an angle,  theres lots of subtlety when it comes to speed and range of weapons.

he 'might' have been hacking, but its doubtfull.

He was probably pulling away to the side right as you came at eachother.
