Hello everyone

Before I begin, I would just like to give my warm thanks to the devs for this totally new game experience. It is fantastic.

Right. Yesterday I bought the full version, everything went well, and it was great. BUT, I have a small problem. I bought the full version here on my brothers PC, the problem arose when I wanted to move the entire game folder onto my PC. When I did this, the SAME game doesn't have full mode activated (on my PC). The thing is, my brothers and my PC are in the same room. He has an internet connection, I don't, and the network cable recently went down (for no apparent reason). Right now I'm using my brothers PC to type this!

This is really annoying as I can only play M&B on my bro's.

I hope I have made myself clear, but can somebody tell me that from what I gather you cant make I backup copy, or use the activated version on another PC. All I wanted to do was bungi it over to my PC!!!

(BTW) I used a CD writable to get it across...

Wait are you saying your internet isnt working and you cant activate your serial key, or you cant activate it because you already put it on your bro's computer? The serial key can go on to two computers I was told, not sure what your question is, sorry. Maybe this under customer suppost might be more suiting too *Shrug*
 
Any serial key can be used to unlock the game on 2 different computers every 60 days.

And when you want to install something on one computer, you shouldn't copy the folder directly, because usually the program installs bits into other parts of the computer.
 
Sorry, perhaps I havent made myself clear enough... :)

BAsically I activated the game fine on my bro's PC (with internet) - thought it'd be OK moving it to my PC by disk, BUT - the game hasn't registered as being activated on my PC. What I want to know is whether or not M&B is only playable by full version ONLY on the PC that you activated it on. i.e. back up copies dont work... Remember that my PC doesn't have the internet...

Well, if i'm not mistaken, that key entry is in the registry, and copying the game folder over will only allow you to play the demo version. I'm not sure if you can register it without an internet connection, never tried, but you CAN have it on both of those computers, its just a matter of transfering it. Maybe use your bro's internet and link it to your computer just so you can activate the key?

So 60 days after I've installed MB I can install it again on a different comp? Is there any way to ... reset the serial key if I needed to?

Let's explain from the start to clear everything up.

First, it's best to install m&b with the installer.

When you get your Serial key, you can activate m&b on 2 different computers immediately. You can activate the serial key on the same computer an unlimited amount of times.
60 days after you purchase the key, you can install it on another 2 computers.

And so on.

No luck with the install from the original activated version from my brothers...
 
just to add to the other comments here.

you cannot just copy the game folder and expect everything to work fine.

I.e: it needs to be installed using the installer.

Activation/serial key would probably involve either a config file buried in your local user settings (windows stuff) or in the registry-either way-you wont be able to 'copy' activation over to another machine by simply copying the game files-i.e: if you install on anotther machine-u need to activate/enter the serial key in that machine.

as for internet activation-if you can hook up your machine to the internet and then activate-thats good, if you cannot hook up directly-i think i saw something to the effect of 'manual activation' as an option-i'd try that.

Hope the mods dont mind my answer and hope its accurate.
 
Thanks fuzzbang. All of what you said has more or less happened to me. Which I'm glad of because its cleared everything up.

It looks like i@m gonna have to hook up my PC, that means bunging it over to the other side of the room and everything. Oh God. The effort.

Well, manual activation, I dont know what thats all sabout, it seems to me that you still need the internet!
 
I think u can use the internet from your brothers PC for the manual activation. What it needs is a hardware hash from your PC.

after u have installed the game on your PC-click on manual activation and take it from there-might save u some shifting...

Indeed, you don't actually need to connect your PC to the net in order to register your game, as long as you have another one that has internet access (Your brother's PC in your case). You can do it like this:

In the startup screen, choose "Enter Your Serial Key". Then on the bottom right, choose "Manual Activation". Write down your hardware hash, then follow the link on your internet computer (The act.licenturion.com one). On that site, type in your hardware hash and serial key, and you'll get the activation code for your non-internet computer, which you then type into the manual activation screen box, and if you didn't screw up, you should now be running M&B in full mode. Congratulations!
