Some weapon models

I havent used 3ds for over a year since i quit modding ufo aftermath, but here is my first work, as soon the mod tools are released the game will get some decent weaponary like this ones. First ones are those viking swords, the poly count for each of them is abit over 400.

yes to my knowledge the vikings never used 2 handed swords, but large 2 handed waraxes as already ingame, the plain sword is 85 cm, and the noble man variant 95 cm in reality. I tryd to get a good quality with low poly count, i do not know what the common poly count for a weapon is ingame, but i think 500 should be the max, any sugestions ?
 
Marvellous, only gripe is that the hand guards look a bit odd. That might just be me, though. I'm not sure about the basic weapons' poly counts, but I think they're at 200-300. Definitely under 500.
 
Aye, i agree okin the handguard could look better especially for the 2nd one, i will give it a bit more polys and make the texture sharper so the decoration on the grip might be a bit better, but i dont want to add much more polys, and who knows how they look ingame, will you even see this detail ?

Well, if the current Poly count is around 400, and the ones in-game are around 200-300, it probably wouldn't be wise to increase the polys too much. For how little you see of the guard, and that's usually when it's in motion, I think the current models look fine.
 
Since this is in mod discussion, could you perhaps make something that a few of us would just drool over.... That's right... Masamune, the 5-6 foot katana that Sephiroth uses. Pweese
 
hm, i can make anything i guess, i know how a katana looks like, but your talking of ueber fiction sword, so to make it look like it should i would need a image to figure out the proportions, however ill make a katana tomorrow i need practice anyways.

edit: here.. this weapon would be a slashing and piercing sword with the weapon reach of a jousting lance

TYR, those look great. What program do you use? I'm thinking about doing some modelling myself. Mainly replacing the current warhammer, platemail and double axe.
 
I always hated that Sephiroth's "Masamune" didn't look like a Tachi or Daito katana, but more like a Nodachi, just didn't make sense to me.
 
I use 3ds5 for modelling, and milkshape for texturing, holy crap what the hell is that, that guy is probably 1 meter 60 and his sword is like 190 !? how the hell does anybody wield it ? :grin: Well i can give it a try but i doubt there is a proper animation ingame for such a weapon, could look pretty funny, but you get it.

EDIT:

I just finished this katana here, took me quite a while (1hour) since i never made one before, but the little competition ended in a better result. It has just 214 Polys so just half as many as the other swords, no idea where i spent the other polys really :oops: Since its 3 am here already i will make your ueber katana tomorrow, no big deal i will use this model bend it a little more and make it longer, voila :wink:
