It's cool that AI follow the same rules as the player but...
Their armies suck.
I did an experiment game where I nerfed bandits to insignificance as I was curious how much of a factor they really have on the snowballing. Well, they really are the main factor since nothing really happened. Battanina took a couple of Sturgian cities but that was about it. There was a lot of back and forth between factions but no one made any real gain except for the previously mentioned tree people. All the bandits out there can be happy as you are clearly part of the Calradian eco system.
Anyway, regarding AI armies. It seems that about 50% is made of recruits, 40% 2nd tier archers and infantry, and 10% are higher tiers. While peasants are much more effective in great numbers than in previous titles, a nice little cavalry charge or some descent positioning destroys them before they do any damage.
I'm not sure but I'm guessing this results in AI armies after a battle, win or loss, never really recovers other than in manpower as they take a lot of casualties and have to recruit even more newbies. Maybe they need some buff in terms of training troops or the death/wounded ratio idunno. Or they could actually hunt looters as it's the absolute best way to level up your troops without any real downsides.
Sorry for the rambling
