Recruit
hello, i just want to ask, whats the best way to level up my character and my troops, ive been playing the native m&b for quite a while and im getting tired of just waiting for some bandits to chase so that i can level up my troops and me.. i also tried the training field but it gives to little exp. also, whats my quests in m&b?? the quests is the same for every castle i go to.

Really..the best way to level early is to get a light crossbow, two quills of +3 bolts, a decent bladed lance and go solo sea raiders. Also you'll need a Heavy Courser for speed.

Just run circles around the raiders until they all run out of ammo, then shoot them in the head with your crossbow.. moving each time you reload. Aim towards the bottom of their shield and you should hit them in the legs.

135 xp a kill. You'll level up in no time

Have all your troops hold position until you get to lvl 20 or so. I don't even start recruiting until I hit lvl 20, with 6 training skill.

You can start with looters until you reach lvl 3, but really, Sea raiders are just as easy to kill and give more exp.

Rhodock and Swadian footmen are good as well. I try to avoid archers, but it really isn't feasible. Archers are defeated by the speed of your heavy courser and your own strategy. Eventually they run out of arrows and it becomes a duck shoot. Sharpshooters can be a nightmare while soloing. Avoid them at all costs.

Try to avoid hills and trees. Khergits are easy if you exploit the barrier.

ok, where do i find those sea raiders?, im level 9 and i have 33 troops

In regular M&B, you'll find sea raiders in Nord country.

Run iron and furs from Khudan and Curaw to Wercheg, Sargoth and Tihr, then run fish and linen back. You'll make a good profit while hitting all the sea raiders/looters to level up. You can take the loot as well, but I usually only take the top few items and leave the rest.

Start with parties of 5-15, then when you get a feel for it, start taking on parties of 25-35. You'll get massive xp and good renoun if you solo them.

Sea raiders can be found near the coast in Nord territory. What Shingen said is very good for leveling up your character and troops. I'd only add that it's also important to train up the 'training' skill with your companions, and not just on your own character. As their levels and training skills increase they will greatly help to improve the rest of your troops. I only ever used the training field to get any of my very lowest troops past the first tier, and only if I hadn't hired any companions yet.

The quests do have some variety, but it's not uncommon to get the same damn quest in a row. Here's a list of the different quests you can get from castles. There's also quests you can get from towns, villages, and marshals but those can also get repetitive. You just gotta keep trying if you want a different quest.

I don't even bother with companions until I reach a decent level of 20 with my character ( and a training skill of 5-6). None of the companions can handle sea raiders until they reach lvl 15 or so, and once they are rendered unconscious, they don't get any further xp until it's split among the party at the end of the battle. Which ultimately takes away from your main character, which makes leveling take longer.

I've found it's best to solo until I hit level 20 with lvl 6 training, then I can just mosey around the map trading and doing quests while leveling my companions and troops all at the same time.

I usually  go with the 8 companion build and level all their training skills to 4 right off the bat. It makes leveling troops sooo much easier.

Also it's a good idea to have two extra quills of bolts in your inventory when soloing large groups of sea raiders. When you run out of your first batch, you can run back to your inventory and restock.
