Some multiplayer questions

Hi, new to the MP and the forums, but have play the SP enough that I though my skill would stand and yet, MP has a way of humbling a man. I'm hoping some of the veterans in MP can answer some questions. I would prefer solid, tested answers not personal opinions on how you think it could be.

Is it worth it to chamber block in MP? My experience so far leads to "no" In SP I can counter chamber block the IA allot of times yet I'll admit that with the added visual speed that turning with the swing gives in MP I can nearly keep up. With easier ways like "kick" which effectively leaves a shield or 2h open for a strike why risk it. Which lead me to my next question.

How to counter a "kick"? Is there even a way? I have notice since I started MP that all the top players in the in the duel servers I frequent use this accessibly with a 2h. I prefer a short sword "no shield" that means that I have to get close but even if a block all his attacks (which i do mostly) the kick/strike combo fallows. At first I though it was hard to perform but with some practice I found my self scoring quick kills. It was fun at first but now I find it....cheap

Is there a hit detection issue with this game or is lag to blame? This has to be the most annoying and infuriating issue I have with this game and the worst part is I cant do nothing about it. There are times when the hit detection seems to be to the molecule. I have shot someone at medium to close range and I seen the bolt come close enough to tickle their jugular and at other times I have shot someone long distance it looks like the arrow would hit about shoulder level one person apart, so it did not even make contact with the target, yet it scores a head shot.
I notice this allot with thrust attacks and overhead chops. I see them as completely missing me yet they sometimes score or miss.Same goes for blocking doesn't register at times. My pin in the middle 40 or low 50 which i heard is good. If ping effects this game this much I see my time in MP greatly shorten as I will always be playing with a handicap. Not trying to make an excuse here but half my deaths are cause because of this issue. I'm in the states and mostly play in US servers to keep my ping low.

Single player is fun but i bought the game due to the MP option. I'm hoping someone tells me is a detection issue as that at least can be fix eventually with a patch.

Sorry about that bit of rage but it is one aspect of the game that really gets under my skin. Any advice provided will be appreciated.

It would seem to me that the hitboxes are really, really small. I recently laid siege to a town and tried picking off archers on the walls with my crossbow while the infantry humped their way up the ladder. 2/3 shots missed, granted I was aiming for the heads mainly, but I know they should've hit.

Don't forget the arrow actually appears below the recticle in thrid person. Use first person for acurate shooting.

Wait...there's a first person mode? I always thought there should be, but never found it. Guess I didn't look hard enough. That'll help!

The fact that they are small is not the case is the inconsistency of register hits that bothers me. I gets frustrating when I'm not sure why my arrows hit at one point and not the other, same with melee, same with block. I done some research and someone just told me to chuck it to a ****ty net code in the game(wherever that means)

Bottom line is WB will have a short stay in my hardrive. Why? The SP is fun but it lacks, the only meaty aspect of the gameplay its is combat and that still feels dull and in need of major work. MP has potential and it can really shine at times, the 22nd 100+ server can really show that this game is fun, put with horrible lag is more frustrating than anything else. Not to mention I can only play in a hand full of servers or else my ping kicks trough the roof.

To the developers I think you got a diamond in the ruff with the MB franchise I really wish you the best In making it something big, but right now I feel I'm paying to be part of a beta, still the game was fun for a few weeks...meh

What do you use for accurate infantry fighting since there are issues with hitboxes aswell, first person ?

As far as how to counter kicks (which i use often, but not all the time), the answer is foot work.  This might sound stupid for a game, but it really does matter.  You need to practice "dancing" around your opponent, the more you do it the better you will get at it.

You need to keep far enough away so that they can not hit you, and then move in, block (vary important when fighting 2h), maybe get a kick in if you can, and then start back pedaling.  Another thing you can do, is if they start to follow you while you backpedal, keep doing it then run forward and kick them, normally they are not expecting this.

I have found this to be vary effective fighting style, and some people accuse me of being "cheap" but i do not really get there point, i use hit and run tactics, i keep away until i go in to attack, i seldom stand still, and it works.

You mean you fight the correct way with a 2h weapon?   Good job I wish I faced more 2h users like you because most just keep charging as they swing until they are nice and close and I rip them to pieces with my faster hitting short sword.  The 2h users who keep a good distance and can block good... those bastards scare me.

Thanks for the advice, I had started to do something along those lines. But it really doesn't matter to me anymore, I usually just play range now since my chance of hitting someone in any type of melee is a flip of the coin and not really skill base. It is still frustrating to see my arrows disappear into the magic void of someones chest and not register a hit sometimes, but I come to deal with it. In the very near future(very near) I'll simply but MB away, is to annoying most of the time.

What really bothers me is that I don't want to, the game's MP can be super fun at times. But with this issues, and only a hand full of servers were my ping is low enough to not add to the problems even more, I feel like my gameplay is very restricted. I'm trying to see pass this but i don't think is worth the afford. I may try again in a few months and see if anything change, not really holding my breath for SP though unless they like completely overhauled the thing, which is not likely to happen.

I very rarely have these hit detection problems people complain about so much.

With the thrusts and the overheads, to the untrained eye it can seem that they miss completely and still score a hit, but if you look carefully the person doing it usually turns sufficiently to just touch the enemy with their weapon, thus scoring a hit.

I think the ranged hitboxes are very good too, never had a problem with them on any server where I had a good ping.

Is it worth it to chamber block?
If you can do it with a high degree of success, yes!
If you can't, it's rarely worth risking it.
