Some other mods you should try:
Singleplayer:
Brytenwalda - Quite possibly one of the largest overhauls of the game yet. Set in dark-age Britain with an emphasis on historical accuracy.
Diplomacy - Diplomacy is Native with a more fleshed-out Kingdom management system. Most big mods include diplomacy since it's open source.
Blood and Steel - Calradia moved to the Rennaisance timeframe.. Very big emphasis on your character rather than your army.
1257 A.D. - Another massive overhaul mod set in Europe in 1257 A.D. The map is MASSIVE, and it focuses on historical accuracy.
Multiplayer:
Mount Musket: Battalion - An overhaul mod set in Napoleonic Europe. Fight as France, Britain, Prussia, or Russia in massive 250-player linebattle events.
Vikingr - This mod has some beautiful visuals, possibly the best in any M&B mod out there. It's an overhaul mod set in dark-age Northern Europe in the mid 11th century, with Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans, and Rus'. Combat has been overhauled - infantry combat is completely team-based, horsemen play very differently, and archery is very hard to use.
cRPG - The most-played multiplayer mod, it has persistent proficiency points and weaponry which you gain by leveling up and gaining gold.
Persistent World - Has populated EU and NA servers, and is mostly a roleplay mod. The game mode is quite cool if you have a group that you can play it with while there's no admins, but if you're on a public server, then be prepared for some disappointment if you're not there for roleplaying.
