Truly, they are.
1. Bulgar helm - high price, looks like heavy armor - gives low protection
2. 1 version of byzantine heavy cavalry armor - looks like padded cloth, good protection. Nothing wrong with the armor rating there but it's kind of weird if you compare it with the other version - the one with lamellar and chain mail. Padded cloth and lamellar aren't equal
3. Hood - you get the protection that you expect from a hood, yet it costs like a heavier helmet lol
4. Armenian knight armor - or similarly named - looks like a night robe. Not a knight robe. No chainmail visible whatsover. Correct price and protection though.
5. Byzantine padded cloth - my biggest complaint - looks like chain mail, gives protection of padded cloth. The worst thing is that cataprachts and both end tier byzantine infantry units use it :/
Not sure if I got it all, there could be more. Hope it gets fixed in 1.0
