dont you people think that after u throw a javelin into some guys face and its still there shouldnt we be able to pull it out and reuse it because its not broken just a bit bloody thats all

Ya, he should be able reuse it but if you want to make it that realistic a javelin in the face would kill someone.

if i am correct (small chance) a javelin is not like the ones used in olympics. The end is like a fishing hook making it very hard to get out. Like arrows.

Agreed. Projectile spears do not make for good melee spears.

Roman pilum had a light version for throwing and a heavy one for occasional melee use. They were separate.

Durability and aerodynamics were at odds with the materials available.
