SOD Warlords - Suggestions & Discussions Thread

Nah I know what you mean, usually what i do is make it so the country is more aristocratic so that you gain a certain amount of relation with each lord with each week.

But a good way to fix this, and this is a suggestion, is to have it like before being able to give a fief away you have to hold a feast or something which also acts as a council to see which lord supports who and to have the option to persuade them into agreeing to switch who they support.

Yeah im starting over my territory got way to vast, i have about 255 center and 50 something lords and so many whiners lol

Could you possibly do something about the companions nagging? I'm not talking about turning off their speech, I mean when a companion complains about another companion, you have to choose one over the other, and I never liked that. How about you have the option to talk to the other companion, and if you have enough persuasion, get them to settle their dispute, kinda' like how if you are a king, you have to talk to both of them about stopping the fighting. But then it could also backfire, and get either one of them, or both mad.

I really didn't feel like reading all 70 pages of this forum to learn if custom banners means if you can create your own banner like in M&B the original SOD.  I really liked that because most of the banners are rather dumb.  And if you could add more designs to them like wolves or spears or something that would be really cool.

Forgive me if I repeat anything already mentioned. I didn't read all 70 pages.  Here is my wish list...so far.

For those of us that like to do the quests,  they could use a bump in pay-out, both in coin and experience.  The map is huge, and driving cattle or escorting a caravan can be very time consuming. Time = soldier's wages and morale issues.

Speaking of morale.  What is this morale modifier to specific troop types?  It is extremely severe in some cases.

Ransom brokers need to be much more common, and more companions added.  You can wander around for weeks and weeks without ever finding a companion in a tavern.

With all of that said, I think you are doing great work on the mod.  It is always appreciated that you guys(gals) do this for free.

The marketing model that results in me getting the boat is convoluted, but based on the notion that there are irrationally wealthy folks out there. While doubts about the likelihood of me ending on the spiffy boat are compelling, there is a key concept in sales called "The Ask". By repeatedly asking for the magnificent dream craft in exchange for personalizing this mod, my chances of getting the boat are a lot better than those who don't ask. setsail.com The boat is worth the ask, and we can make the mod to the liking of someone with the resources to provide the boat.

It also shuts down a lot of whining from people who wouldn't contribute an honest minute or a thin dime to making this project better. We have a standard for making irrational change to the mod, and if you can't pony up the price of the boat, stop whining.

You can also toss troops at them. Later on, there's more than enough money and you can pick up all kinds of units, train them up and then whistle up a lord and dump the trained uberunits on them. Other benefits also include the lord having a bunch of uberunits.

One nice thing to do is call a campaign (when going for a siege tower one), load up and dump on them, keeping your group for garrison. Also helps prevents you losing morale from having a huge army sitting around for the tower, and still maybe being attacked by angry enemy campaign.

I got another idea~

Now if I recall correctly one of the ideas you guys had was to make it so you can play as a bandit lord, correct? Well what if you can build secret hideouts like the vanilla bandits and the hideouts can act like a fortress with improvements, a garrison/prison and a lord's hall but have it all be in a cave or something.

Hi, I jsut want to say that this is a really great mod and im having a lot of fun with it. The only real problem I have is the stupidity of the AI when im in battle with them. Sometimes after I finish a duel my allies dont charge and just form a long line and do  their best to just avoid the enemy entirely by moving around in circles. Aside from that this is a really good mod.

Not just SoD, occasionally I see it in PoP (the other mod I play) - though formations makes it a little less obvious.

I think when forces are too "even" both AI's try to flank the other, and they both try to flank on the same side, so they go round and round. It's hilarious.

i have 10 towns and i built in the 10 towns guildhalls
i invested my money (via the chmberlin)and there is an option that says somthing like "risk??invest everything" so i did that 3 times (with 227%profit)and i now got 448 milion gold (40 milions in my treasury 42 in bank and 400 milion im caring with me )

so my suggestion is or to limit the investment or adding option to deposit 5 milions

btw is there a bug report topic? cause i couldnt find one

My game crash every now and then with this mod, im sure ive installed it correctly i also get intermittent lag when mooving on around on the overland map. I dont get this with any other mod (pop, floris, brytenwalda, 1276 ad etc) Is this normal or is something wrong on my side?

this may have been covered, i didn't search all 71 pages, but here's a quick and easy suggestion for all mount and blade mods; make the first wave of troops more elite.

this could just be a lack of perception on my part, and if so then just ignore me, but it seems like i'm always fighting militia in the first wave along with the enemy lord/s. first thing i do charge the lords, then i mop up the militia/peasants. it seems like im not fighting the knights/elites until the last wave.

my guess is that the game tries to balance out each wave to a degree, but i kind of wish the first battle was a bit more fulfilling.

oh, and this could just be my settings or something, i've always played on a old comp that couldn't handle large battles, but i have my battle sizes set to max, but i still end up in situations were im fighting 5+ battles winch is slightly annoying. is it possible to make it so that i can just fight 1-3 big ones with the right computer? this isn't so much a suggestion as a general rant i guess, lol

you can change the battle size by finding your Warband folder in my documents then look for the rgl_config then look for this entry: battle_size = 3.0000 I have mine set to this and I think it gives me about 400 people on the battle map, but it has been a while. so play around with the number and see what you get.
