So where is this story I've heard so much about?

Been playing for a couple hours now, and still don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. I keep hearing that they took away a lot of what I liked about Warband for the sake of a story... but I have yet to find it. What am I supposed to do to get the storyline started?

Talk to Lords (Polish, Cossack, Moscow) often, get your relations with those countries higher. Lord  will eventually give you story quests. Once you start one line you can't get quests for other ones.

The story line quests come from the dialogue option that says something to the effect of "Hey I'll be your ***** and go on a special mission for you." For some Lords you have to get your relationship up with them before they start doling out these quests.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to take a break for now, try coming back to it later, but I guess I'll find someone and stick with them until it starts up.

Nobody cares about the story. People want to play this game and choose their own adventure sandbox style. Stories have a nasty tendency to keep you streamlined in how you play and I hate that. Besides, what good is a storyline without voice acting? I seriously hate reading all the boring dialog. If I wanted to read,  I would have bought a book. This is 2011 and people need jobs. Why couldn't they have hired a few voice actors to bring some life to the dialog? Oblivion only had a handful of voice actors and they managed to make the dialog fairly entertaining.

If people don't want the story then why buy the game?

The economy has really hit the voice acting industry especially hard. Damn developers and their text based storylines.

For sandbox mode of course - just like the other two M&B games. Duh!

Yes and no. Yes most of us enjoy the sandbox but there are a large portion of us that would like to see some sort of storyline integrated into the sandbox. I already hit one option. Where I had to escort a "spy". It was pretty cool I'm interested to see what else there is.
