So this is what we got in 2nd Anniversary: nothing

Considering how hush TaleWorlds is about this supposed new update, my expectation of it is that it'd just be a multiplayer Termination of Service announcement that'd still somehow manage to break singleplayer mods.

As unlikely as it is for Bannerlord's 1.3 update to be anything other than a Termination of Service announcement that will somehow break singleplayer mods, I think I'm gonna put all my eggs in one basket with that puppy.
I got a rock...

Termination of Service announcements aren't patches, this is nonsense. If they wanted to end online play they would announce that without the need for a patch, and vice versa. I don't get why you keep saying this and frankly I don't think you know what a patch is?

The fact that Taleworlds are completely hush about the update working on likely suggest that they fully expect people to be disappointed about the update. Even if the update actually adds things to the game, it's highly likely that the new additions will be sorely inconsequential for most people that the update will largely be perceived as a "euthanize the multiplayer dog" update that still somehow breaks singleplayer mods.

That said, I want to be proven wrong about multiplayer being shut down, and I would very much appreciate it if they realized that maybe the opinions of the people who defended the game's terrible balance have very little value when the peak player count is at the high single digits to mid 10s on most days. When TW realizes that listening to the "keep the OP units OP and bad units bad" crowd was a bad idea, they'll actually start balancing the game and when that happens, people might start playing the multiplayer mode again.

Taleworlds being hush hush about anything doesn't mean anything. The founder of the company and lead developer has posted maybe upwards of 30 comments on the forum in the last, what, 10 years? He hasn't even posted anything in the past 4.

I don't think I've seen them communicate openly and frequently about anything since Bannerlord entered EA in 2020. The only thing that is new with this patch isn't that they aren't saying anything, just that it's taking longer than the other patches, which in itself is also a trend. And yeah of course it'll break mods, they all break mods because they keep fixing up code that a lot of mods happen to rely on.

Regarding multiplayer though I have no idea what they're going to do about it. Whichever team is in charge of the multiplayer branch ****ed up so monumentally in growing a community that anything they do is unpredictable at this point.
