Hey all I was just checking around to see what mods were available and now I'm completely lost.  Which mod packages do you guys use?

Any advice?

It's really hard to suggest... depends on your preferences... what period do you like, do you like historicaly accurate mods or not, do you like fantasy elements or not... so on...

So, just try them all, and decide by yourself, I think that's the best advice

Thanks guys ..quick question.

Do the mods work with each other?  Like will Chronicles of Talera work with Sword of Damocles and Custom Settlements?  Or no.

I've got one more suggestion before you probably decide to lock this. Age of Blackpowder: Realm of Revolution

No

Try Hundred Years War mod, or Rise of the Khergits... both my favorites. (Chevalries ftw!)

Eagle and the Radiant Cross is a great one. And if you really like Vikings, go to the appropriatly named 'Viking mod series' sub-forum in the Cartographers guild, and download the 'Roots of Yggdrasil'. Good stuff, that

Prophesy of Pendor is pretty good. Kinda the same era only new map and items e.t.c. The russian revolution mod is a fun little twist too

I guess my preference is to be able to have alot of options regarding your town, maybe be able to be king and run a kingdom with alot of options to make war, make peace, etc.  However if I am king (unless I call upon an army to help me), I want my Lords to be self sufficient if that makes any sense?  I don't want to have to completely micro manage everything.

The nice part about M&B native was that all the other Lords and kingdoms did their own things and fought battles in the background so to speak.

Sword of Damocles.

(yet again)

Custom settlements is micromanagment to the max. You have to do EVERYTHING by yourself.

Then custom settlements is for you i believe.

Yea I was looking at that.  So if I install Custom Settlements, I can't install Sword of Damocles along with it so I can get the best of both worlds in one game?

I guess my other preference is I would like a big mod that has alot of new troops, items, more factions, bigger map, more things to do ALONG WITH using Custom Settlements.  Is that an option?  If not, what do you recommend?

Thanks so much for the help.

You can decide which mod loads up before the games starts. You can't load more than one mod at a time. I do believe that there are a few mods that are compatible with native, so that they load when you load native. I assume you would install their assets into the native folder. I don't know much about those, I've never used them. Some of them may also be incompatible with one another and cause errors if you try to install them together.

Personally, Sword of the Berserk and Eagle and the Radiant Cross are the only ones I bother with. I may try Roots of Ygdrassil at some point. There are also plenty of mods in development that look great, if they ever get released.

No, all mods are individual, you can have both, but not play both at the same time. When you download a mod, you don't overwrite native, but add it to a drop-down list.

Custom Settlements is a good choice. If you would like a fairly modern mod that has muskets and that kind of stuff I would suggest getting Napoleon Ways to the Power. If you prefer medieval mods i would suggest Fire Arrow turn into an inferno. If you want a good mod where you can become king i suggest getting Lords and Realms. Good luck on finding the mods you want.

Don't get Napoleon Ways to the Power. Btw Timotheus was that a joke. If you want a mod like that get Age of Blackpowder: Realm of Revolution

If you had to pick between these below, which would you go with?

1. Custom Settlements
2. Sword of Damocles
3. Lords and Realms
4. Fire Arrow turn into an inferno

I will probably try them all, but I want to start with the most bang for my buck.  The Sword of Damocles and Lords and Realms are almost the same kind of concept right?

Btw, I want medieval mods.  Not really interested in guns.  I like swords, shields, cavalry, and archers.

Are you on drugs? Seriously.

I doubt he was joking, since he also likes the ak ela mod over TLD...

Well I tried using the Sword of Damocles but in my first battle with mountain bandits...I crashed.  Some kind of mount&blade.exe error.

Never did that in Native mode.  I'm running Vista 64-bit.  Anyone have any ideas?
