So many abandoned modifications

Many moders were waiting for "release" to update their mod or create a new one.

Little did they know "release" for TW was just a marketing term and that for all intents and purposes the game is still in beta.

Any game that has "released" with a half decent amount of polish would not generally receive updates more than once a year.

Oh really, did you read that in a industry handbook or something? That quite individual from game to game and how well supported they are after release.

You don't have to read an industry handbook to spot the correlation between the level of polish of a game and the amount of support it needs after release.

Bannerlord isn't "a lot of PC games".

You want to compare bannerlord with Skyrim?
I'll compare it to any number of games, considering how many of them there are.

That's industry standard at this point, along with support going on for months and years. DLC/FLCs touch base game code, generally, and those don't stopped getting pumped out for successful products for a long, long while.

God you're a -snip-.

You're just spewing nonsensical gibberish.

"I'll compare it to any number of games, considering how many there are".

-snip-. Read that again as many times as you need until you realise how stupid and meaningless that is

And "industry standard". Ya right. Cyberpunk got away with it alright.

Give a example of "polished" games that was released and didn't get an update more than once a yea afterwards? Being rude and insulting people just make you come across as a child throwing tantrums... It's way more common these days that games get released and need a lot of patches and fixes after launch, rather than flawless releases.

I'm just in here to support the modders. There are quite a few great mods for 1.1.0 already. Yes, you have to change how you play when your 'crucial' mods aren't updated but that can be a good thing sometimes. I do check the 'recently updated' filter every day though .

RDR2? CK3? Fallen order?

and once a year is a figure of speech. They may have had small quick fix patches here and there but not to fix a long list of crashes and changing features.

Modders need to take over going forward and we need to be able to know we'll be able to continue to use our favourite mods going forward

CK3 is a bad example in regard of a game that break mods.... I know, because I play it with mods. The game had at least 6 updates during 2022. As for changing features? With each dlc Paradox push out for CK3 there is changing/added features. Also... Pushing Red Dead Redemption 2 out there, a game that had a budget at upward to some 540 million USD, and some 2000 people working on it, really?

I'm sure your "modders" can just focus on a version of the game and branch off and go forward.. If that is the goal, why care about updates to the game from TW at all?

CK3 was a perfectly fine working game at release. it had its quirks but you people trying to compare the level of polish to bannerlord are just delusional or trying too hard. DLCs are optional and not released to "fix" a game, rather to make more money.

i dont care about RDR2 budget. the game costs the same on the shelves.

Yeah the modders are great, they deserve a lot of praise.

CK3 was released with a lot of "missing" features (oh the joy), which is kind of how it goes with Paradox games. They spoon feed you dlc's later. It had bugs, I know, I played it at release... If you don't care about what a dev budget and dev team a game have, but still compare them you are quite silly.. Actually RDR2 cost more on the shelves than Bannerlord, and did even more so at release.

not all of them..

but in most cases yes.

some release subpar, untested code and then simply vanish when the bug reports start coming in. i know a few and have blacklisted them

We all love the game, many of us love the mods and respect the modders.
Don't make any of this personal, refrain from insults and address the point, not the person.

Those are completely different 'sorts' of games - that don't necessarily deal with the same type of issues more prevalent with the relationship between sandbox-games and mods.
I'm all for mods, but I'm more in favor of TW fixing all the crashes/pushing updates promptly. Modders know what they are getting into; dare say, they have more 'passion' for the game than the regular consumers so if the incessant mod-breaking updates from TW frustrates them to discontinue, yes, that sucks. Either they/we deal with it, wait for a stable version, or update along with them.
Another modder will come along, or they won't - base game should never be dependent on mods to become 'good/complete' (to whatever subjective threshold that is).

Creating games much like building houses. Modding more like decorating the rooms in the house when its done.

What are your favorite mods that have now been abandoned?
GT_Megabody
The graphics update that made harem a must for my Aserai hero.

Many modders just don't play any more. It would be really useful if the developers added some of the popular abandoned mods' features to the game.

To play the pedantic, base game should also include a builder-basic degree of finishing/furnishing/decorations. Mods to change the wallpaper/repaint or upgrade/swap anything else afterwards

Idk how they build houses in your country, but over here, we have to furnish them, decorate them, put up wallpaper and paint the walls ourselves -)

Without the foundation, framework and everything else that make up the house. There wouldn't been anything for modders to mod though. Modders doesn't build houses.... because.. then they would be all making their own games and making paper right? So when some people say they should leave it to modders to fix the game.. uhm, no, leave it to modders to put up wallpaper and paint the walls. After all the paint and wallpaper I want not necessary the one you want. It's nice to have options.

Ok, furnishings maybe not - but at least painted, functioning toilet/shower/kitchen, appliances, and HVAC system installed.
Mods would be beds/sofas/tables, curtains, new paints, upgraded bidets, smart appliances, etc...
