SP - General Smithing - pommel size vs weapon stats

Users who are viewing this thread

Currently when crafting weapons in the game a larger heavier pommel reduces swing speed and increases cutting damage. This doesn't make sense. It should be the reverse. A heavier pommel moves the point of balance closer to the hilt thereby allowing the sword to cut faster at reduced power.

Also on a side note, a lot of one handed swords have handles that are way too long. This is worsened by the fact that the character holds these swords at the bottom of the grip as opposed to holding it near the crossguard. Imo long handle parts in smithing menu should all be moved under two handed swords category. Historically long handled one handed swords did exist, like messers for example, but the long handled messers usually didn't have a pommel or else the handling would feel awkward. Messers that did have a pommel-like steel lump attached at the bottom of the grip usually had shorter handle
