Smelling Horse?

Hope there's not a one-a-day noob question limit...

Why does my horse keep getting smelly very quickly (thus loosing it's 'good' prefix such as "spirited" even after repair)?

You've never been on a beach with your horse and Old Spice then. It shouldn't be happening, unless it's the horses that you started out with, then it can get random modifiers (along with all other items in the starting kit). You should be able to talk to the relevant merchant for any item and get a bad modifier removed, but good modifiers will never come back. Is it only happening for the horse you're riding, all horses of that type, or a horse in a specific slot in your inventory?

I recently bought a spirited hunter on day 25 or so (not starting gear) and after a while it turns "smelly." When this happens, I reload my last save and it goes away for a little while, only to turn "smelly" again. Also, I gave Klethi a steppe horse that I bought (she's in my party) and it randomly turned "Champion"
The difference is her horse changed and stayed that way, mine keeps becoming smelly.
Also, this happened earlier in the same game with another horse of mine, but I figured it was related to some kind of injury associated with a random event (though maybe I'm thinking of Brytenwalda, a different mod, when I say "random event") so I sold it.
Also Also, horses in my inventory seem to become smelly randomly.
Maybe it's that rotten cheese I'm carrying?

I'll put it in the next version as a camp option. Meat amount for swaybacked/lame horses will probably be reduced by half, but your smelly horses will become smelly meat (edible with no morale bonus). Maybe I'll add morale objections for companions (and troops) riding the same type of horse?

I've pinned down the source of the problem, sort of. My horse is fine as long as I don't enter a tavern. I can trade, walk around the streets, traverse the map, etc. and it's fine, but if I go into a tavern, it turns smelly. Even then, it may only be certain taverns as it doesn't seem to happen every time.

Did you have any bodyguards? It might have to do with a script I wrote which tries to dismount them inside taverns by moving horse from/to their inventory.

That may be it. I had some bodyguards at the time; now I don't and it's not happening anymore, however I can't be sure that the two coincide.

Well, thanks for finding this bug. I had two parameters backwards, so if your bodyguards's horse didn't have any modifiers, your horse would get the modifier corresponding to the id of the troop (trp_nirdam_longbow = 40, imod_smelling = 40).

What's this smelling business? I guess I'm not very attentive, but I don't recall my horses changing modifiers.

I had a "Large Bag of Pack Horse" before... now that save crashes every time I try to load it. :/ Only day 63...
