Slow-paced wars

In my Battania's vassal run we've conquered half of Calradia in like no time (I'm still halfway through from Clan Tier 2 to 3) and basically there are only Battania, N. Empire and S. Empire left, I think wars are way too decisive and quick, way too easy to steamroll your enemies (Western Empire fell completely against Battania in the first 70 days of both of my 2 runs making impossible to play with them or even against them).
I think it would be nice to limit steamrolling wars, here what passes through my mind at the moment and I think could work:
- Time limited wars (30 days of wars and then peace)
- Conquest limited wars (4-5 conquests and then peace)
- Law limited wars (need of special laws to have more than X settlements)
- Title limited wars (the ruler of the nation needs special titles to let the whole nation have more settlements, something like ruler tiers)
If I'm the only one who would like a more slow-paced game or I'm the only one experiencing such a fast paced game or if you think my ideas are just rubbish (and probably they are, just thought of them right now!) feel free to tell me and what you would like to see instead.
I know that probably with rebellions this issue could be solved, but until we don't see how rebellions work I guess let's brainstorm here!

Yea I am doing a similar thing right now in my campaign though it isn't going as well. The empire is just garbage though as they are surrounded and everyone just removes them from the game so fast. The only way I've seen any of the empire factions survive is with the player's help. I think a better change to this would be to either limit army size so you can't have massive armies of thousands of troops or make it so cities and garrisons are more defended or are harder to take would be best. Big cities shouldn't be changing hands every 10 turns, it should be more of something crazy that any normal general would never think possible imo.
Edit: Better idea make is so you can have larger armies but the food and money it costs should be much higher just due to the logistics of huge armies. This way you could get a large army but you better have lots of food and money to afford to keep it around. Plus this makes it harder to take the larger cities as the ai won't be able to build and have so many armies and large parties to attack cities.

In my runs instead Khuzait, Aserai, Sturgia and Vlandia got annihilated, so I guess at least there are some differences between different games, well the idea of making huge armies more expensive or limiting army size (limiting the gathering army mechanic at least) could be a thing, I personally would prefer to see more of a limit in the own kingdoms rather than in the armies which I think work really nicely (I partecipated in countless armies and they were really enjoyable and the AI played kinda "smart").

The main factor in long campaigns is food/troop supply. Unless your Rome, these are an issue. If a enemy faction posts up in your side of the map (or you steam roll into another kingdoms side) you should have a very hard time getting supplies and troops from immediate areas. Forcing you to run caravans from your home kingdom to conquered areas. The defending army should then try to cut off the supply route. At this point the campaign halts and all manpower is focused on building up newly conquered lands which takes months depending on how far the spearhead went in.

Tldr: there are very good ways to limit this problem naturally

Honestly I like the sped up play for the player but the AI needs to be slowed down a little. They get armies basically a day after they get bodied slow down the recruitment for the ai a little
