Skybox - Question?

Hi,

Just got a quick question that hopefully some one could answer.
As far as i'm aware this is currently impossible to do but just thought i'd ask he

Currently M&B uses the same skybox for both the world map and when you go to a town during the middle of the day, is it possible to assign separate skyboxes for both Worldmap and once your in a town? or ever add additional skyboxes to a module?

 
I doubt you can use different skyboxes for the world map and e. g. a battlefield map.

You can't add more skyboxes to a module either, it has to be done with skyboxes.txt which is located in the main data folder so it changes every module.
 
I have been thinking about this for a good while and I think it might be possible to fake with a map icon and some material tags
youd have to check -no fog and -origin at camera, and make the render order one less than the real skybox, so -6 if the other one is -7.....i never tested this but i expect it to work as long as the map icon is massive enough....

edit: okay i tested it and it works :smile:, you have to set up the map icon so its something that is always in view somehow though I tried setting mine up as a city and the skybox only worked when I was looking at the city.

edit#2:compass multi-mesh might work, ill give it a try.
edit#3: it appears multi-mesh doesn't work for map icons but replacing the compass with a skybox does.
