Skinned Helmet behaves normally in OpenBRF, floats in front of character in game

Hi, I'm having a rather annoying issue, probably caused by me being bad at using modding tools. IN ACOK I have created a helmet by combining a helmet with an aventail (one mesh is titled sallet_coif, the other sallet_coif.1) from Narf's Men at Arms Pack.

The helmet works as intended within OpenBRF (animations behave correctly), but when it is equipped in-game it floats in front of the character wearing it. I have gotten the helmet to work by repositioning it the way you would a static object, but cannot make it skinned this way.

Is there a function in OpenBRF I'm missing? Does ACOK not support this type of skinned/rigged helmet? I've used skinned deformable aventails in other mods before and never had an issue with them. I'd be happy to provide any additional info/screenshots if it helps.
