Skilled Hunter a bit overpowered?

I've noticed that the skilled hunter not only has like 11 power draw but a good bow, so you can pretty much just start right off killing insane amounts of people, not that I don't like killing insane amounts of people, it just seems you don't have to work for that ability with this class.

What do you guys think?

That would be the appropriate topic to ask the question in.

I dont think it's truley overpowered, it depends on who you are fighting also.

hmm to add my opinion on this matter..

At lower level? Definately overpowered though i think the wandering barbarian catches up pretty well at higher levels.

Now days? I added a new class to the game, a Ranger, half melee, half ranged, incapable learning any leader abilities whatsoever, despite how overpowered it sounds, its actually quite balanced, since i cant run around with any proper sized armies due to no leadership (the decrease in wages)

Heh, funny. Would you mind sharing?

I smell LotR in the air...

But... do you mind sharing? [2]
The only reason I don't play as a hunter is that my processor is a 1,2ghz singlecore. It's horrible to aim with 15-20 fps, you know. But yes, it is overpowered... only against unarmored foes, sorry. My Rangers of Reyvadin sweat trying to kill swadians. Nords are a piece of cake. It's balanced, with their strengths and weaknesses.

Ranger equals LotR?

Nords piece of cake, until they get within 10 paces of your archers. Then those damned rangers switch to melee and get their heads handed to them.

I just tried with the Skilled Hunter. He's pretty useful early game. I hate it how you can't get more of your starter troops though. I made farmers being imprisoned by looters and mountain bandits, so that there's some change of my Hunter training new hunters.

I don't have a high level hunter, my last real-play character (no cheats, no save, nickname Servitor unlike the rest) was a hunter and he had a nice time hunting looters and the likes. I believe he died at level 13 being mowed down by Swadian Deserter Cavalry. Still, this happened at 4 O'clock and without caffeine so I wouldn't be sure.

Just took a character, made a export, changed the stats into following on my level 1 character.

Str : 17
Agi : 18
int : 5
Cha : 5

Power Draw : 8
Power Strike : 8
Athletics 5 :
Weapon Master 5

----

Fairly simple setup, but it makes for a very versatile character, though one has to decide whether to go for damage or speed.

LotR because I thought of Aragorn, ranger, fights at distance and melee.

I say nords are piece of cake against archers as they have low armor, being somewhat easy targets when in lower numbers. Up close they slaughter my archers, of course. So I always bring in more troops than the enemy has.

Right, I know you thought of Aragorn. I just didn't agree.

That's a good idea in any situation.

To guys who are complaining about the hunter:

1. have you tried turning the reticle off? It makes long-medium distance shots much harder to place.
2. Have you tried fighting the swadians? it might be just me, but even with my 11 p draw, and a decent bow, i hardly do any damage to them, due to the armour they wear.

Yes, I always play with the crosshair off. The difference is that I now need at least 2 arrows, the first one almost allways missed and the second one I use to correct my aim. This results in me hitting less overall than with crosshair.

Swadian cavalry murder my hunters, including myself.

Well, I am still using the starter bow and arrows.  I am saving up for a warbow, but I play really casual and hardly ever have money.
