While it's very nice to have such a vibrant modding community for Warband, there is a bit of an issue with sorting it all out.

I've read some of the mod pages, but some of them have become extremely bloated and it's hard to tell what information is still relevant to the current release of the mod (or even find the current release for some). I attempted a search for previous topics, but I wound up without anything seemingly relevant to the "Sorting it out" issue. There is an official list, but it's over a year out of date and it appears the current list is buried way down the page from the other "Official List" sticky.

So I guess my question is, what are the quality Single Payer Mod offerings for January 2011? Specifically if I enjoy mods more like Native Expansion compared to the Undead, Magic, Colonial times, or Ninjas?

I just started using diplomacy mod... while it makes a few of my little tweaks to the game impossible, the changes that it makes are really quite nice. I would say it is worth checking out.

I'm biased towards 'Brytenwalda' mod set on the British Isles year 636:

It features Diplomacy mod, about 30 new scenes, formations and much more.

I actually just started a new character in Brytenwalda, he's only level 2 but I'm already enjoying it. The world feels much less cobbled together than many other mods, and the gameplay is similar enough to Native that my previous experience still applies, but it's different enough that I don't just ask myself "Why am I not just playing Native?". It's an extremely believable place, so I think my poor displaced Irish Craftsman is going to have a fun time finding his new place in that world.

I also checked out The Eagle and The Radiant Cross, and while I do appreciate the different take the mod is extremely buggy and balance is very strange. Not that it isn't fun to be a wandering Priest carrying a powerful 4-shot repeating rifle, but it takes some getting used to.

Anyone know of any good hidden gems worth checking out? I'd have to recommend checking out Native Expansion if you haven't before. It's for M&B, but they seem to be well along porting it to Warband.

I really recommend Brytenwalda. It's, honestly, THE best mod I've ever tried to this game. Other than that I can recommend the Pre-Battle Deployment Orders, which allows you to give orders to your men that's transferred in the beginning of the battle. A much needed feature if you're, as me, tired of your men running Rambo in the beginning of every single battle. I really can't understand why the devs didn't put more effort in the tactical aspect of this game. But meh... it's a wonderful game anyway.

I personally feel like there's too much going on in Brytenwalda and there are very strange names, which doesn't help. Too hard to understand the world :/ But it certainly is still great.

I will recommend Prophecy of Pendor. Absolutely fantastic. Easy to understand with tons of new features. Also, for staying in Calradia, Diplomacy+Pre-Battle Orders and Deployment. Knights of the Last Battle is good, too. Not as polished as Brytenwalda or Prophecy of Pendor, but new factions, new map, new units.
