Since 1.141 the game stutters heavily in melee - unplayable!

Hi there!


My F&S was running smoothly all the time, but then I updated it to 1.141, and now suddenly, when my troops get into melee with the enemy, the game stutters heavily. The only thing that makes battles playable is the ctrl+F9 cheat, and even there it stutters a bit.

And no, don't come up with my system, it's far above the reuqired (or recommended) performance. Everything was fine before the patch, so I doubt that after the patch my PC suddenly is too bad for F&S.

It must have something to do with the new features, some calculation seems to be flawed, perhaps the new overhead stab, the kneeling or whatever. Is there any solution for this? Otherwise I have to downgrade to the previous version, something I wouldn't enjoy to do, as the new features are just too sweet.

Oh btw. I have an old mod folder from the previous version. Yes, after the patch now even the mod contains the new features in their commands (from 3 ranks), and the battlemap doesn't work, but the fights run smoothly!
 
Probably the mod, since it may not support some of the new features (crouching, etc.). There's likely some sort of conflict involving those mod files, so try taking them out.
 
I have a minor stutter problem as well, but it comes and goes.  However, this is also combined with an occasional crash on going to certain menu screens, and occasional crashes on exiting the game back to the main menu.  All post patch, with no mods running.

No, playing the mod is fine, but changing to native makes it stutter. I don't think a module folder could influence this.


At least sometimes, as I had to notice today. Everything was fine with Native, too.  :???: :?:
 
First, have you updated to 1.142? Any changes there? If not:

Interesting. I'd recommend testing this more directly--if you can get a save immediately prior to a battle that stutters in Native 1.142 consistently, but does NOT ever stutter in your modded 1.140--that would give the devs excellent information. It could be that they added some code module-system-side to mission templates that is causing more memory use than they anticipated.
 
I also feel that after patch 1.142 the game stutters much more than before. But still didn't make my game unplayable, just a little annoying sometimes. And I can say that, even in small battles, the main part where it stutter is exactly when I hit an oponent.
 
I have the same problem. Im running the game constantly with 120fps. Also in battles with max soldiers. As long as the armies are shooting at each other everything is fine. But when the close combat starts its stuttering like hell. Not unplayable yet but annoying.
 
Also try uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest version of the full installer. Usually it's down to the patch being unable to alter some of the files.
 
I don't know... usually I don't put graphics in front of performance. But I think I'd rather play with blood and some annoying stutter than without blood...  If that's the case.

And I did download the v1.142 full version.
