Simulating Sea Travel?

Would it be possible to add an option through modding to 'teleport' from one coastal city to another for a price, the amount of time it takes depending on the distance between the cities? Possibly adding points around the map outside cities that could be used as harbours to land at?

Would the AI be able to use a system like that if it were even possible to add in?

Since the teleport cheat exists it should be possible to teleport at least the main party (probably any party) through scripts, last resort just trigger the cheat.
There is code for calculating distances in taleworlds dlls and triggering something after a certain time is possible.
Unsure how to properly make the AI use it but probably possible.

So making a mod that adds this feature to certain settlements (or adding harbors to the map) should definitely be possible, making the AI use it would probably be a nightmare but possible.

Thanks. The lack of all things to do with the sea feels like a bit of a glaring hole to me. Trying to think of ways to make it at least feel like something that exists in the bannerlord world.

There was a cool system in Anno Domini 1257 (one of the greatest mod for Warband) where you could take boats from main coastal cities and move freely through the sea (with speed penalty). It was cool and it doesn't seem too hard to implement.
It would be a really cool addition and would be faster to reach Aserai

Possible to add in sea monsters to that you can fight while your at it modders ? Just slap in an FF quick time loading event to the battle during the simulation.... would be very cool for my odysseys playthru

That would be perfect in bannerlord until someone or TW themselves came up with a VC like full blown naval system.
It could even be improved a little like armies wouldn't be able to disembark freely on enemy cities so they would have the option to siege it from the sea with a custom sea-side scene for the siege or something like that, or just keep it simpler and have the embark/disembark points close to costal cities but not directly tied to them

Want to turn Bannerlord into Sea Fight?

Well, a good naval combat system would be very difficult to make. For now I think sea travel can be enough

no think it would be to demanding in to this game right now being that its a new engine and all.... even if its possible later for sure.... just the chance to load in an large fish on my deck when im trying to cross over  i mean it would be cool wouldnt it ? But it must be very rare like 0.4 % chance and secretive to so people go wtf is happening right now. Dont write it in the update or mod description if youre doing this, just sneak it in. Also make the boss hard to fight, not some weak ass 2020 stage **** but more like the 90s boss styles. Maybe not like Mike Tyson type of but you get it ^^

That mod was so good. It's up there with PoP as one of my favorite conversion mods. (y)

I always had the project to add life to seas. Making harbor scenes and ship parties.
I reckon I already seen a mod for warband like that.

That's just the sort of thing I was imagining. I have no idea how to go about doing it though.

I think it is not a great idea, especially for vanilla game. Implementing interesting and thought out naval system would require several months of work, at least. I would prefer they focus on bringing satisfying core gameplay, because looking at number of mechanics that ground is prepared for I assume there is a lot of work to be done.

Get all other stuff done/fixed before thinking about sea travel/combat/whatever.
I disagree. Because Taleworlds sucks at "Finish one part first, then move to another". It's clear from the form we have at the moment. Once they add something to EA it's very hard for them to take out ( at worst case it gives good groundwork for modders)
So It's better for them to add it with bugs and fix it later. In theory, they will never "finish" the game with this pace anyway

Bloc = Khuzaits vs TW = Miguel

But thinking about mechanic, implementation, tweaks and balance requires free hands, and while a lot of core mechanics are on the go, I don't think it would be beneficial. Especially considering that they probably weren't thinking about it when constructing engine, so it would require a lot of time and work to make it stand.
Even if they are not good at workflow, adding new mechanic will not help them at all.

For me it was ACOK.

On topic:

Why should we wait for the completion of endless bug fixes and tweaks before discussing or thinking about ways to make the sea something other than a massive barrier? It seems unlikely that they'll ever officially add any sort of naval aspect to the game.

Why concentrate on navy when there are barely any sea...i say mountain climbing is the new meta..:Then we at least can have top textured mountain goats and mountain bandits have an home
