Simple Suggestion About Multiple Weapons for Knights

The idea is this: add a variable or somesuch to allow EDIT: AI-controlled troops to carry two melee weapons, like a lance and a sword.

One weapon would be for use while on a horse, galloping at the enemy, like the lance, while the other would be used if the knight was dismounted or stuck in the middle of the melee. If they couldn't get their horse moving quickly and there were enemies nearby, they'd automatically switch. Thus, they could, like real knights, use a lance in the initial charge and then a sword once things got 'personal'.

This could also be used for foot soldiers with spears. They could switch to the sword when they got close to the enemy, or to the spear if they were being attacked by horses.

I think this would be not to hard to implement, though I don't know how hard changing the AI would be, and add a lot to the game.

Are you talking about computer controlled troops? Because you can already carry up to 4 weapons at once... Or are you talking about being able to carry weapons on your horse and use it to sort of expand your inventory while riding it? I'm a bit confused about what you mean... Also, AI archers already do this, as they carry ranged weapons and melee for backup when you get close. Although i suppose it would make sense if all classes could do something similar to this.

Yes, I'm talking about the AI.

Its similar to the archer ranged/melee combo, in that the AI would have one weapon for lancing/taking out horses, and another for close range combat.

Lances, Great Lances and Jousting Lances should have their own category, like melee and ranged. That way it could be used by horsemen who would be able to defend themselves when it got ugly.

Given that couched lance attacks can be blocked I think it is fair enough.
