Sig charactuor limit

The limit -is- 255, but if it goes over 247 or sometimes 246 it's cut off. The 'characters remaining' thingie still shows that there are eight or nine characters left, but entering more and pressing change profile cuts it back to eight or nine left.

This is a bug which is probably related to some things using multiple characters, such as line-breaks (when you press Enter) which use two of them.
We might be able to fix it by switching the forum to use another character set such as UTF-8, but that could potentially take a few hours to convert the entire database during which the forum would be down.

Yup.Thats why my christmas thee is screwy. I wouldnt mind raising the signature up to 300, as I have some extra stuff I would like to put in there, however cant.

Nearly half of mine is script anyway.

Eh? I thought that was changed some time back, as now the characters remaining gets reduced by one per enter.

Because the displayed character count considers it as one character, as it always has. It's not saved to the database until you click the button to save your changes.
