Siege tower and impatient vassals

Right now I'm the marshal of the rhodoks, and I've been so for a while. In the beginning it all went great and all the lords followed me and did what I told them to. Everyone was happy and there were rainbows and unicorns everywhere. Now they seem to not be very interested anymore. The first problem is that if I start a campaign no one actually comes to me, so I have to get them all manually and give them all orders. Okay no problem, I got a few lords with me and we got enough troops to take one of the last swadian castles. The real problem is, to besiege it, we need to build a siege tower. I got Artimenner (or whatever he's called) with 6 engineering skill, so it takes 54 hours. But when I besiege it, after like 40 hours all the lords just go away! Then I have to take over the castle on my own, and theres no way I can do that because theres 143 swadians in it.

So is there anyway to fix this impatient vassal issue? Ive tried everything, I tried ending the campaign and starting a  new one, I tried giving them new orders to follow me right before I started the siege, I even tried resigning marshalship! But nothing works! Anyone got any idea how I can get them to stay and finish off those pesky swadians?

When you call for all lords to follow you as marshall, only the ones that like you will come. So you need to increase your relations with every lord if you want a big army. After a while lords will leave the army, especially if they're running low on soldiers or the campaign has been going on for very long. It helps to stop the campaign for a while when no important battles are going on. The lords can then all go home and rest. When you restart the campaign later, more will show up. But the most important thing is making sure the lords like you, if they do they will generally stay with you for long enough to finish the sieges.

Good advice...well said.

You can't take a castle with 140 men in it? I solo sack cities with 500 men all the time, often with forces of less than 100 men. Fully upgraded Huscarls, of course, but still... I hardly ever rely on the other Lords to do anything other than patrol.

Probably worth noting that I get right into the action with a 2-hander and probably account for a decent chunk of the kills myself.

Well, most lords on rhodoks are atleast cooperative, and there are a few with 20+ relation as well. But I had to pick up those manually as well. Only about 3-4 with negative relation, so that can't be the problem. On the other hand this campaign has been going on for a couple weeks, because I´m fighting 2 wars at the same time, and I admit I liked having them by my side even when I wasnt fighting so I never stopped it. I guess I´ll have to stop the campaign for a while then...which kinda sucks because this is a perfect moment to finish off the swadians :/

If I go in with a 2hander I would probably get shot before I even reach the castle.... I tried with a 1h+ shield but its kinda hard to fight because there's no room to turn around and stuff. So I usually just shoot them with my crossbow in siege. Also I don't have alot of elite troops, and most of them are stationed in my castles. What difficulty are you playing btw?

That's why. Huscarls > everybody else in siege situations.
