Siege mission available

I think I have the siege missions working on all servers. Players should be able to defend cities as a sponsored mission. Please let me know if there are any bugs!

Just tried on the NA server... there are now enemy  troops who fight  but there is no fortification...

Did some testing earlier as attacker (not sure if it was Great Khaganate does battle in Bolgar with Great Khaganate Score is 1141 to 662), and the battle scores are fairly low as only player retinues really participate in raiding. Some things I've noticed:
  • Fanning the flames doesn't seem to produce particles on the client, despite the message being displayed in the logs.
  • AI doesn't react well to players/retinues inside the engineer towers (you can hear them trying to hit through the walls above).
  • Engineer replacements don't seem to come with escorts, I've seen them walk right into the player's retinue
  • Access to towers is fairly easy on most maps (granted, I've only tested a few where the towers are right in the walls) if you double up on shields/retinues to distract bots on the walls.

Thanks for that -- I have yet to get particles and sounds to appear consistently on client maps. I'll take another look.

Engineer escorts might be a good idea, or maybe just for the besieged town in the towers to make things a little harder for the attacker.

I'm not sure how to make things any easier for bots to deal with characters inside towers.

Also, only one of the North American servers (Empires_of_Faith_MMN) should be able to handle sieges right now.In the other, you'll probably get the open field. I just need to have the other one restarted, which will hopefully happen shortly.

Hmm -- do you know what province the siege was set in?

Thanks

It was in Gallia. Trying the same mission now and the fortification is there but there is no combat.

Okay -- hopefully that should be working now.

In siege, there's not supposed to be any action unless the player initiates it by raiding the other side. It might not be to everyone's taste. It's supposed to provide a more challenging mission for players to work together to plan raids, although the besieger side might not be sufficiently challenging yet.

I intend to do a more action-filled (if chaotic) assault mission for a later version.

Sounds awesome. Too bad my comp is FUBAR at the moment, but when I get a new one I will surely test this out.
