Siege formation groups

When did archers start being grouped with all the melee units in siege battles? They no longer take cover and shoot like they used to.

This has been happening to me for a while siege formation is 2 or 3 groups all charging for ladders or with siege equipment and groups all mixed melee and ranged

Exactly. I'm sure it wasn't always like this.

I'm sure we all are Total war players and how easy it is to setup siege defenses there. Pity BL isn't similar. You should able to setup as many "Groups" as you like and place soldiers in each group.

Well it isn't fixed, I just tested it without mods.

Think its always been a mess with formations spread out all over the place
