The snowballing has thankfully been slowed, but I have noticed an overall problem with the AI when it comes to defending things. The problem is that the AI does not defend anything, ever. I have not once fought a siege battle as a defender in 30 plus hours because I never know anything is getting sieged, but more importantly, I have never been part of attacking and seen an AI lord at the castle/town to defend it.

Other problems, the AI Formation's stop the AI within the formation from properly defending themselves. Example, the AI formation on the other side of the inner gate, they do not move forward to block the inner gate after it has been breached, they don't guard their flanks when being attacked by units from the sides, they just stand there, in a nice little shield wall, and they die. Another huge problem is that garrisons are too small to defend any of these castles, and that the defense AI for the walls also doesn't work properly. Groups of archers facing walls where they can't shoot anything, archers not looking down to fire upon advancing enemies. No melee units on the walls near ladders and siege towers, so the attacker army gets to take the walls with almost no resistance before the defender melee troops can even get there. There is no situational awareness for AI units whatsoever. They will stay in formations and die, or literally run past enemies on their own walls to try to get to the pre determined archery locations, getting slaughtered as they do.

There is going to have to be a major overhaul of battle AI in general, since, IMO, large battles between hundreds of soldiers end in less than ten minutes, and Siege battles are impossible for the AI to properly defend in it's current state. Also Armor, Armor needs to actually matter, it currently does not seem too, making heavily armored units seem to die at the exact same speed as non armored units. Armor needs to actually matter and right now, it does not. That factors partially into battles being way too short and sieges being broken.

Also, to clarify my opening statements, Snowballing has been slowed, but it still happens and it starts way too early. There needs to be peacetime, cooldowns, better defensive tactics from the losing country, and alliances between weaker nations for the sake of fighting the stronger ones. Otherwise, snowballing/steamrolling will always be a thing.

i agree with the armor part. ive felt like that since the start also, thats why i stack hp on my skills. On other hand, as some1 who has been on the attacking side of a siege on my own, i can say the ai was quite smart on defending the walls. they camped the ladders and the siege tower as well. In almost all the scenarios that i lead my army i lost. the only times i won was when i understood how to break their walls. only then was i able to win in both leading and sending my army. i havent been on the defending side yet so i cant really comment on that aspect

I haven't had many problems in field battles, except for a few times where the lord commanding the infantry had them running around in circles until the enemy got close, but I have definitely notice the siege AI. On top of low defender numbers, the formation in front of the gate stand still for me too, though I'm sure they're meant to charge once the gate is broken as we've seen it in the old 2016 siege defense video. I also noticed that there are formations next to the ladders, but they don't seem to move to the ladders until the enemy has broken through.

Something that needs to be fixed at the same time as the gate formation is the formation for the battering ram, as it seem that once the first gate is broken, only 5-10 men will break it down, while all the other soldiers who moved behind the ram run to the ladders until the inner gate is broken, which would kill the men who broke through if they weren't facing soldiers who forgot how to walk.

Some smaller bugs include soldiers grabbing stones then getting to attached and never letting them go, or on one occasion a few archers who spawned outside the walls on a khuzait town. Sieges are a bit too buggy right now for me to really enjoy, but if they were to just fix a few bugs and add a few defenders to make it a challenge, I don't think I would play any other game for a good while.

Siege towers are bugged in custom battles.

Troops don't go up properly and won't let you or soldiers go up.
