True, but it does seem odd to be fighting for the vaegirs and have swadian troops. Plus, you can only gain allied troops by raiding enemy prisoner trains. So it's alot easier to maintain an army from your own country.

Here I was thinking it was the other way around.

Until there's a "stay there and fire" command for Vaegir archers I'll keep using Swadians for everything.

Vaegirs only have a few archer in their patrol parties (which are rare). Other than that, their parties have no one shooting in the unmodded game. You can MAKE archers, but I prefer to keep an army of cavalry.

Swadians have crossbowmen in every party and can cause a lot of trouble.

Therefore, if you are afraid of missiles, join Swadians.

Vaegir archers upgrade to vaegir marksmen, who, if I remember correctly, are unmounted. I am talking about vanilla game.

Besides, I join Swadians and kil those pesty little vaegirs

If you remove their melee weapons using the editor, they will behave more like real archers.

Completely disagree. I've debated this before, but i believe that vaegir knights are much better than swadian knights. They don't have as much armor, but they have two handed weapons as opposed to 1handers and a lance here or there. And 2handers = much much pwnage on horseback.

Swadians have better armor and better horses. Two-handers are all well and good, but shields are useful (Especially against ranged enemies). They're much better at using lances now than they were in 0.632, and they use two-handed swords as well, which are clearly superior to bardiches or what have you.

Don't think it will work with .703 but there was a new upgrade path for .632, and the hugemod also had a new upgrade path giving vaegir archers.

Yeah, hugemod made vaegirs capable of becoming horse archers. I might make a mod... w/ horse archers, fixed prices, etc.

It might be worth it, even. Of course... i dunno if the editor works with .703.

If you mean me and Lost-Lamb's troop mod, it's not 0.70X compatible but we'll be resuming work on it once the mod tools are released.
