Basically that. I think when you lose 10 infantry to some events it can be quite impactful to know which units you lose.
For instance, I started a siege and I noticed that I started losing units to the castle's ballistas I suppose, but there is nowhere to see which units I actually lose, it doesn't really say you lost units, your unit counter just goes down. Obviously you can check your party roster to see which units you lost but that can be hard to do/keep track off.
Also when you run away from fights or try to enter a town during sieges you lose units but it doesn't say which units, it just says XX infantry, XX archery, which is pretty unspecific.
