show character speed when not moving

right now, you have to be moving in order to know how fast you can move. This is weird because if you know the speed of all the other parties on the map, why do you know so little about your own speed?

Until now, this hasn't been a big deal, since if you were caught then, you could just run away. Since 0.950, if you are being pursued by an enemy force, you often will find yourself wondering how many soldiers do you need to let go of to achieve a certain speed. As it stands, you have to let go of your soldiers, move your group, and hope to catch a glimpse of how fast you are going.

Why do you have to let go of troops and then move to see your speed? Just move a little in a direction, move the mouse over your character, and then you know your speed.

That allows you to see your speed at one moment. If you are trying to increase your speed by a certain amount, you obviously need to remove troops first. If you want to be mathematical you can get your speed, remove one troop, get your speed again, remove one troop, take a final sample of your speed increase per troop, and hope to calculate the amount of troops that need to be removed. This all assumes that you have the game-time to do this, and that you can read the numbers in the fraction of a second your mouse is over your character.

That is a silly amount of work needed to accomplish such a task that should be very simple.

I've actually wanted this alot to. Being able to see YOUR speed when not moving (But shouldn't affect unaligned AI) Because it is annoying the ONLY way to pause is to stop.

@EasyCo506 : Thats al lgreat, but, when deciding if you have enough speed to lead some steppe bandits into a dead end trap, you can't waste time moving like that
