You have never been able to marry faction leaders, why would we be able to marry Rhagaea but none of the other faction leaders? Maybe when civil wars/rebellions and the kingdom system gets more worked out it might make sense if you are clan level 6 or something.

I don't see why not. It is fairly common in many medieval setting fantasy stories for a Female Ruler to take a Concubine as a husband with it clearly established that while he has status, he personally can't inherit or rule. So for all intents and purposes, you would just be another lord with high relationship status with his ruler. Mostly it would be for roleplay.

Because they dont want to perhaps and want the power for themselves ? Rhagea it would actually fit in but yeah its an good question
On the other hand question is if you manage to get powerful enough to even be noticed by the kings and queens before they get to old, but then love has no boundaries i guess..or did they realistically ? hmmm...Only our forum historians would know

Yes, I also ask it myself.

IMHO being married with a noble NPC should link you with his/her clan and kingdom, otherwise if you want to be completely independent you should marry with a wanderer or other non noble NPC.

If you marry with a noble and finally become independent it might be possible but you should accept some penalties due "you have broken a deal".

IMHO it fits better to the medieval lore to me.

I believe that one solution for marry a King/Queen could be, or the player joined the Spouse clan... Or the child will be selected as one of the parents clans, let's say, you get 2 child by...Empress Ira, if she became Empress without marrying anyone before, I'm not saying Rhaega, well, people wants easy game and the Woman is above 40, according to coding she can't have anymore child. Back to topic:

You have 2 children with the leader of faction/clan:

1. Firstborn is under the most prestigious clan between the spouses
2. Secondborn, born into the clan of less prestigious clan between parents
3. thirdborn, the same, but the player decides or if he takes too long the third will born in the AI clan

who cares? Marriage right now is only a means to get good equipment dowry. Then she dies, then you get another for more high end equipment and so on...

I am voting no. The whole basis for Rhagaea's power is that she's the widow of the dead emperor, running things on behalf of Arenicos's blood heir.

It makes zero sense for Rhagaea to be willing to get married, because it would jeopardize her claim to power. She might be willing to let her daughter get married, but that's a different story. She wants someone sensible to marry Ira to be a good influence.

You say no but brought up a point of why it should be yes. Rhagaea is realistically only the regent of the Southern Empire with the death of her husband. Her getting remarried wouldn't hurt her claim at all on the bases of why she is the empress just that her new husband and children would have no claim to the throne as Rhagaea did not gain the throne by blood but marriage.

What does hurt her claim to the throne is the fact the Ira is very much of age and therefore should be ruling since it would be her right through blood. What makes no sense is how they have Rhagaea as the empress and not as an advisor to Ira. So really it would make sense for Rhagaea to be willing to get married again on the bases she actually has not claim to power but would want to have more children as bargaining chips for political marriages.

I do hope that they broaden the marriage mechanics to make it more interesting then to simply generate additional clan members. Like allowing you to marry into clans instead of them always marrying into yours. Being able to marry Ira to take over the Southern Empire would be nice to have as an option.

I think this is one of those things better left to the modders. they've still yet to implement all the clan marriage features and having the player character marry into a different clan is probably not a planned feature. I personally think the game should let you marry gang leaders etc

You should be able to marry whoever, it's not like the marriage script is robust lol.
