Hack McSlash

Knight at Arms
Personally, I'd like to see more ability to do both good and bad. I envision a system where I can freely roam as a bandit, attack peasants/caravans/refugees and beyond this.

I know that with some modding this is possible, but things like theft, raiding, and assassination would be nice to see. Animations for pick-pocketing, battles inside towns (against an army of peasants, a few knights, and the noble) and being able to take hostages/ransom/burn, being able to attack so-and-so in a town (everyone has killed their fair share of npcs in town, I'd like to see them fight back).

Imagine being able to fist-fight in town, create your own bandit faction, or just build an army and burn each city to the ground.

I love the game the way it is, I just want to know what other people think about it.

On the front page of the site it says that some people go to war because "they are so bitter and hateful that they are willing to unleash doom on earth". Should players have the option to be those men?

(I do know this adheres to the new "be good or evil" craze in games, but having the ability to play polar opposites in a game doubles its playability for me)

Well, if you want, you can attack caravans of both factions, leaving you hated by both sides and denied entry to the merchants.  Its a fun time.  The only thing that would need to be changed to allow wholly evil players would be the ability to attack farmers and refugees.

i believe this game was made to be free.
and if someone attacks the farmers or folks.
there should be some status to show this kind of evil in the game.
some points to show the one is a fallen knight or a defender of the light?

Oh noes not alignment points.

A more in depth reputation system would be fine, but I don't want any RPG nonsense about evil points.

The costs for some of the 'immoral' acts would have to be so high as to make them unreasonable. For example, if you got caught trying to steal, you might become an enemy of that faction. I'm not sure that slaughtering peasents makes a whole lot of sense, unless there was a storyline to go with it. Mainly, I wouldn't advocate any of these options, without knowing where the final game is going.

Things like assassinations could actually be modded in fairly easily. So, since I see it as mainly a matter of storyline, I would leave it as it is, until we know more about what the eventual 'goal' of the vanilla game is.

This is true. We don't really have enough story line to really judge if this is appropriate...but I based the idea off of the homepage (which seemed to differentiate between glorious heros and psychotic villains). I suppose right now this poll could only be used as a judge of whether or not players want the game to go toward the direction of the good/evil trend in games.

I've tried to search some for any hints to how the plot will be, does anyone know where it looks like its going? Right now I'm not even sure it's going to have a linear plot. It has completely slipped my mind that plot development is still supposed to be implemented in vanilla. Sometimes I forget that there is still quite a bit more going to be added.

I do like the reputation idea, though. Something between the older GTA games and "The Last Days" mod would be nice (maybe some kind of creative usage of the faction relation points).

All I know is that bishop to the left of your words there wants to kick someone's ass real bad right now.
