should the AI be more aware of edge borders and walls?

i think it's a shame AI gets stuck on the edges of maps during battles because AI has no idea that he's going to run into the invisible wall and lose his momentum.

should the AI be aware of invisible walls and be programmed to slow down and turn if they reach a certain proximity to the edge?

same goes for tournaments.  the AI gets stuck at the wall and is pretty much helpless.  in this case, it'd be nice if AI knows to go backwards on horse and turn away from the walls.  it should also make tournaments more challenging than it is, which is too easy imo.
 
Yea, but most of the time in tourneys they just dismount and attack on foot...

Warband will offer better A.I. so this may had already been adressed.
 
?  I guess I'm having an odd experience with the game, because the AI doesn't get stuck on walls in the tournaments unless there's a big scrap going on up against the stone -- in which case it's a half-dozen guys all mashed in, trying to kill each other.  :???:  Otherwise the AI's been pretty good for avoiding running into the walls -- or when I can trick an NPC into doing so, they pry themselves off after a moment and come after me.

The invisible battlefield borders is another story entirely. AI gets pinned there pretty regularly... but then, so do I.  The invisible forcewall is one of my few (minor) beefs with M&B -- right alongside the spontaneous arrival of reinforcements that makes it look like a squadron of goons just teleported on top of my character and/or his companions.
 
Well, the invisible border is as hard to avoid for a human as it is for the AI, it seems. I don't think there is an easy way to design it to make it feel realistic.
 
I read that someone suggested to make it circular in hope that this would help the AI get away from it..

Not sure if this will be enough though..
 
Well.....the invisible wall is a problem......mainly about cavalry.......you know....when you are chasing them they end up there.I dont thing this could be solved easily.Also  this happen to sieges sometimes  when they fall from the wall they stay down there.
