well .. sorry to flood the forum but i need to adress another thing.
shields.
there are 3 main sizes of shield:
++the buckler (round shield good for active parrying, lightweight,) its strapped around the arm.
++the medium shield ( round rectangular or triangular that covers the torso and head but leaves the lower body exposed) the basic M&B shield. it can either be held or held and strapped together.
++and the bodyshield (thats like carrying a wall in front of you)
what i say is the followind:
>a buckler should be used as a parrying instrument. like a sword. you must direct it to the enemy attack, in order to parry. (some swords could be used with two hands while wearing a buckler cause its small and light)
>a medium shield should be able to move up or down(and left right of course) . getting an arrow in the leg is good damage indeed. thats why people invented leg greaves. this shield can be used by cavalry. the medium shield should protect the upper body only. in fact the character should be able to protect his head by raising the shield. sometimes when i receive enemy fire i instinctively push my mouse foreward to raise my shield while i am already blocking. why not "really do it"?
>the body shield can only be rotated as it covers you completely. but its too expensive, heavy and cannot be used by horsemen. moreover it reduces visibility a lot and its mostly used for tight formations of many people. but still it offers great protection against enemy attacks... mostly missile attacks because its reinforced wood so an enemy lance or a heavy axe could relatively easy break it.
i would like to have a choice in the matter. its not really important but at least enable my character to deal damage to an oncoming enemy with a shield. at least let me punch a hole into his leg goddamnit!!!!!! if he is fast enough he can parry it...
