Shield walls need revamp

I understand this game is on early access and there is so much to do on the game, i would like to make this thread to make sure the taleworlds staff team is aware that the shield wall needs improving. there is my troops with shields behind the 1st row, all troops with shields should be on front to defend from incoming arrows.

I would also like to suggest testudo formation, 2nd-3rd row troops should place their shields above to defend from incoming arrows as well.

Yeah its pretty useless at the moment because it includes troops without shields.

You can take the units without shields out of the group. Make a "Shield Infantry" group and use them for shield wall.

EDIT: You can actually do this during battle as well. But it's a little bit cumbersome to pull off.

This would be amazing. I felt that the formations given to us were a little lackluster. I understand that it's hard to pull off all these advanced formations when you only have 12 F keys to work with but I would still love to see more advanced formations implemented. Perhaps an interactive "commander" display that shows the map, troop types, troops numbers, which direction they are facing and their current formation all done from a birds eye view

I think the Testudo should only be for the Empire. But i agree 1000% the shield wall needs a rework at some point it looks awful and doesn't do its job. Just set up the shield wall like the Vikings, front row to protect front, second row protect from above. There's still so much for them to work on bug wise this will be a much lower priority which is fine

I like your idea of some factions that should have new formations related to them but yeah they should fix none shield units to be in the back instead of the front
