sharpshooters are infantry?

Hey, total noob here lol

Alright. I tend to llike lining all my guys up on the battlefield at the beginning a lot,

and when I do so, infantry first and archers second, the couple of sharpshooters join up

with the infantry with swords drawn. what is this?? I'm using the extended caladria mod

along with HDR, so I don't think it's one of them screwing with the game.. do sharpshooters

only shoot when they are really far away or somethin? that would not be cool...

have them Hold position, don't tell them to charge. If your crossbows are -right- behind your infantry then yeah, they'll pull swords because they will be almost in the midst of the fighting.

What I do is order all my troops to hold position, and then either tell my infantry to advance 10 paces (2, F6) or my archers to walk backwards 10 paces (3, F7)

Also, another good tip is to put ranged units like crossbowmen and archers on the very top of a hill, and infantry down the face of the hill, something like 10-15 paces from the crest.  This means the archers have a good field of vision, and the enemy loses any speed bonus they get on attack because they're charging uphill.

Or put archers in front of infantry and then charge with the infantry when the enemy get too close.
