shadows

ok, so ive been playing mount and blade for quite a long time now, but theres one thing thats bugging me, sumtimes whenever i enter in a wooded area during a battle all the shadows turn out to look like a chessboard, so basically they will all be squares, all other shadows are fine ,it only occurs in a heavily forested area, the shadows also appear on a battlefield with no trees

Ive had that a few times, just fiddle with some shadow options or restart the game or something like that
