Set a large fire on the outskirts of this village

I was playing the campaign and all of the sudden this option appeared in some of the villages I was visiting. Apparently my character wants to free a prisoner from Praven, and when I looked I saw there was a Count there, but considering I had no allegiances to any factions or really any relationships at all, I thought it was strange that it gave me this option. Is this supposed to happen?

Yep. Free the dude and gain some easy rep with him. Funny thing is, you don't take a hit from faction relation from the faction you free him from, or the lord of the town. I always don Jeremius' pilgrim outfit and a black hood and pretend the guards don't recognize me when I wear it.....to roleplay the zero penalty

I sware this is buggy. I also got this option however it was to free a prisionor from a city that I owned already.

So why would i light a fire in my own village to rescue a prisinor that I had imprisoned in a town that I personaly owned....

Anyways I tried to do it for a laugh and the fire was never lit.
Weird

Always works for me.  I tell them do it in an hour and not the midnight option.  Never tried that.  1 guard.

I can always take the guards myself, the problem comes when invariably some archer wants to 1 shot the prisoner in the face even if I tell him to stay put.  That whole 'he was wounded and had to be left' is a crock really.  I'm sure you could throw him on a horse and get the hell out of there.

Huh? In my experience, when you disguise and sneak in, you automatically just get set up in this beggar gear with a staff, which is annoying. Why are there all these differnet types of clothing available to buy if you cannot actually use them for anything, such as disgusing yourself?

So then you are in the town, and you have 50K denars in your pocket. Go over to the arms and armor dealers to get setup for the jailbreak. Yep you can do that and see your inventory (where the armor and stuff you were equipped with last is still shown) but now buy it and put it on and you still wear that damn beggar outfit.

In principle, this seems like a great quest. In reality I find it very annoying.

If you don't sneak in and just walk around the streets/courtyard then you start in your normal gear.  Obviously, breaking lords out of locations you aren't at war with is easy points.  Going in with the stick though is pretty corny.

I guess I've only ever been invited to do the quest by Ladies whose men were incarcerated by the enemies of our Faction.

remember that you have to kill only the FIRST guard with the stick. Then you can pick up his weapons/shield and it's all downhill from there.

You respawn with the stick when you walk out of the prison.  That's the part that makes no sense.  Castle guards are usually right there.  2 of them.

I know you do, that's why you just kill another guard and grab his weapons again. Castle guards are usually easier than the jailor anyway. if you have that many problems just ask the lord to help you fighting. Unless he's just been captured and as such he's badly wounded, he shouldn't have a problem surviving at least a guard by himself, and he's fully armed/armored. Hell, in a few cases i've seen the lord (especially nord ones) solo all the guards by himself.

I must have bad luck then.  Even if they are fairly healthy I seem to get them killed really fast.  Also, they almost never have shields.  Bastards.

In my Ron Jeremy, vassal of the Nords game which is up to about day 500, I did manage to rescue Jarl Faarn or some guy out of Jelkala. Only had to reload it about 4 times. The fact that I killed the key holder, then killed all the guards (four in total I think) then went back to get the Jarl and more guards spawned was annoying too. But luckily since I asked him to grab some weapons he was a bad ass and killed two of the guards as he proceeded to rush for the gate. Got out safe thankfully. I was like 'Thank God that stupid quest is over. Hope I don't get another one like that.' Guess its an acquired taste?

each to their own. i LOVE that quest- and seek it out wherever I can find it

Maybe if they let us keep the weapons or the guards stayed down for the 15 seconds it takes to walk in and talk to the guy I'm there to rescue.

Reminds me, is it just me or does everyone wind up naked if after doing the quest you go to a lords hall to visit your lady or attend a feast or just to say 'sup to Harlaus. Something to do with the game thinking you are still in the diguise no doubt but you are not.
It happens to me everytime. Should I put in a bug report for it or is there already one?
