Serial key problem

I just bought the game. It gave me the serial number, I even have it in an email, but it won't let me enter it. I have gone into the game and attempted to enter it through the regular method and it keeps telling me it cannot connect to the server. I have done this about a dozen times. I tried doing manual, but the website it tells me to go to does not exist. I'm a little upset considering I paid my $12 and want to play my character. Can some one tell me what the hell might be going?

Instead of going to http://act.taleworlds.com/ ... would you try http://act.taleworlds.net/.

A few people have had similar problems ... this seemed to help.
