seperate horse armor from horses

I'm sure it's been said before, but i think you should have to buy armor from horses. Horses stats should be speed, strenght, health, and turning. Obviously health is how much hp it is, turning is how well it can turn, speed is how fast it can run. Maybe it's accelleration could be a combination of it's speed and turning stats, or maybe just speed. Strenght would effect charging damage, and the penalties a horse would receive from armor. You could buy a big strong horse that isn't very fast without any armor, but then if you put armor on it, it would barely slow the horse down. Or you could buy a faster horse that has a big penalty for wearing heavy horse armor. It would allow you to sort of customize a horse for your character by buying the horse that best suits your needs, and then buying the best armor for your playing style.

I think that would make the game more personalized and more fun. Although there are some exceptions right now(like war horses that only have speed of 8 ), usualy the horses just get better and better in every way as the price goes up. I bet 99% of people playing this game who can afford a charger are using a charger. Because it's the best. It's the best for an archer, it's the best for a lancer, it's the best for a swordsman... you get the point.
 
I'd love to have to purchase barding separately from my horse, and different horses would carry armor better or worse. I think it has been around before but *shrug* meh, who cares.

I like the idea, it'd be very cool, require barding models though.
 
I think it would be great if something like this was implemented. It makes a lot more sense that you first select the breed of horse (eg a big destrier or a small steppe pony), and then add whatever armour you want. If you want a slower horse that acts like a tank, outfit it in metal plates, chain, or drape it in lamellar. Or you could have more ornamental and cultural bardings, like heraldric caparisons, crests and muslim style tassels. There is a huge variety in horse armours and a lot of possibilities available.
 
I think I would like this also.

Different types of horses with seperate min and max stats that are somewhat randomized ... that you can equip with different armor pieces.

The armor could slow the horse (heavy) ... lower the turning speed (restrictive) ... and such.
 
THen someone could add Bretonnian armour!

Ok, I like Bretonnia, well, I'm not realy into warhammer as I have no-one to play with. *sniff* and am losing most interest.
 
I agree with homie about horse armor, but I'd like to add that your encumbrance rating should effect the horses performance as well. If your in full armor on a steppe horse, you shouldn't be able to ride around as if you had an encumbrance of zero.
 
I did something like this for mag7 but it was limited so I didnt release it.

You can add fine saddle, fine shoes or heavy armor to the horse and it shows as a suffix after the horses name. The problem was that it couldnt take into account your horses prefix (spirited, swaybacked, lame) and would essentially give you a new horse without prefixes with the new suffix tags and stats. As it was I was going to release it as an option for upgrading "champion" horses (from mag7) only. It would still be a cheap way to cure a lame horse though. Cheezy to say the least.

If in the new version there is a way to check an items prefixes, store them for examination and apply them to things, this system would work better.

If a "store/apply prefixes" command(s) arent in the new version it would be something worth asking for. By switching the item number (thus the model/skin/stats) on the "upgraded" horse you have the illusion of customizing your horse. By reapplying the prefix code to that item its essentially a new horse with better stats, a new model/skin but it seems like its still your old horse with an upgrade.

Commands like this would also let you augment or upgrade your armor without losing your prefix (like thick or reinforced).
