Second round of encounter: a HP question

Just wondered if anyone here could answer the following question. In the second (third, etc.) round of encounter (after the player has been presented with the option of either leaving or attacking again): heroes and the player character start the round with whatever HPs they have remaining from the previous round.

How about the regular army units? Does the engine have "memory" of hit-points remaining from the previous round or the regular units start the new attack fresh? If "memory" is incorporated into the game: does the engine attempt to rotate "wounded" units with fresh ones from reinforcements or just puts the same units on line that the player had in the previous round (with replacements for the killed ones)?

A similar "engine memory" question relates to unit experience: do units continue to progress beyond they maximum "title level" (example: vaegir knights), gaining points in weapon proficiencies for successful kills?

No, they probably keep collecting experience but since they can't be upgraded any more, they won't utilize it.

No. Their experience only gets them new levels. Once they hit maximum level, their HP and all other stats are set.

For regular units, their HP gets reset round after round. This is why high HP units are a lot better than low HP ones as they have a great probability of surviving the fight.

Heroes can also recover some lost HP by having some first aid skill in the party. That can be very helpful in keeping you in fighting shape round after round.

Yeah, at level 8 first aid you and your hero's recover 2/3 of their lost hp each round. However, your regular troops always fully recover after each round as troop health isn't permanently saved.

I've also noticed that units do not need the amount of xp described in their char sheets to advance to new levels. They simply need 1000 xp for the frist 2-3 levels (vaegir peasant - footman - veteran) and 2000 for the last ones (vaegir rider - knight).

This can be easily confirmed with cheating too.
