Okay, if this has been posted before... excuse me, but I have looked for it, through manual page surfing and search (be much easier if people would be SPECIFIC in their post titles, but then I've already created a topic about that in the past).

All of a sudden, my game crashed to my desktop, but it wasn't a real crash, I was able to alt-task back into it, and ever since then, I don't get in-game messages, you know, like where it tells you when you kill someone, get gold, get experience, etc etc.

Toggling the display does nothing.

When I checked the game "recent messages" it has the following, repeated over and over and over (also really slowing the game down):

At Simple Trigger 39
Script Error On OPcode 1665 Invalid Party ID 1027 Line No: 6

So, um... any ideas?  Yes, I am running .960 (and have been with NO problems for quite some time).
Yes, its NOT an attempt at running a game from an earlier version.

Hmmm.  We encountered this bug in .954 I remember.  The problem was when too many Lords are Incapped and have to respawn, it causes an error in the game in parties, this error leads to a broken message system.  What happens after that, and the other complications I'm not sure, except that the Message System is shattered.

A solution offered back before this was supposed to have been fixed, was to carefully only take out so many lords at one time, if necessary camping outside castles...

Anyone else have any other input on this problem that they have to suggest?

Okay, this is what I did... so if any of you have the same problem, look here, it may help:

If you have for example an enemy castle filled with lords, if you take those lords all out at once will cause errors which will shut off your message system (overwhelm it actually).

To get around this I...

First, baited the Lords out in groups of 4-5 by having a good, but not large army.  This reduced the number of Lords being taken out at once.

Secondly, whenever I am in a battle where there will be a lot of lords I shut off most of my messages, this way the message system is less likely to get overwhelmed.

Third, I engaged the castle (using rule #2 I just mentioned).

Last, but not least... dont quickly click "continue" each time it says a Lord escaped... if you are like me, you want to get over those annoying messages, but resist... wait it out... click them one at a time, and let time (real time, not game time) go by in between clicks, this way the game system is swamped with major message tasks (which in this case its all the message and scripting required to despawn and respawn a wounded lord).

So, if you take it easy on the message system this way, everything turns out fine.  I've tried alternate ways, and unless you take it easy on the system, it always causes bugs, this way doesn't.

Yeah I just had the same problem.  The game didn't close out or anything, but now all my notifications are gone except for the script errors.  I tried just quitting out of the game, and that didn't help.  Do you have any idea how I can get the script back?

this is weird.

Try exiting program, starting it up, loading an old game or starting a new game, this will usually fix the problem.  Then with the problem fixed load the game you want to play, it may take a few game-days into it, and it may fix it.

Otherwise, your best bet may be to load an older save game, and play from there.

You my good sir, are a hero.

I made a new character, dicked around and made sure the messages were there.  I reopened my old game, the old red **** popped up again, then it was working.  I have no idea what the problem was, but, it appears to be gone.

Thanks!

aaaaaaaagggghhhhhh.  It appears to only have been a temporary fix.

this is very irritating.

oi guys theres a real easy way to fix this
get your mount and blade onto a flashdrive
when it mucks up delete the game file not the saves and readd it from your flash drive

well, I created a random new character, and the text and all was there.  I reopened my old character and it worked fine.  The I shut the game down and went to sleep cause it was late.  Next day, I got the same script error when I opened my old character.  When I opened the old one, it was messed up as well.

I've just started ignoring it, since it isn't really crippling the gameplay, just annoying when you're used to having those messages.

I'll try the flash drive thing tomorrow.

I got the same thing(.960).  I captured the last Vaegir castle with all the lords inside(15-20).

Broken messages, momentarily freezes on world map.  Locked up when I talked to one of my Lords. ( doing Lady Isolla rebellion quest)

Another odd thing, upon capturing the last Swadian Castle ( after the buggyness started) there were 114 Champion Fighters in the prison. Now I have shirtless, bare knuckle fighters in my army.

Wow... now that is odd.

All I can say is... try my fix, and take it easy on the message system.  Worse thing you can do is spama huge pile of escaped lords from battle... take it 'slower', lest you overwhelm the system.

Got that bug also ( Party ID )... real sad, 1 more reason why you shouldnt start a game on reallistic mode. I got screwed twice by this, both characters were pretty advanced in the game and I had to start all over again. Oh well, back to looters hunting again...

I think that being advanced in the game ( for example: close to making an empire or taking up towns with 10+ lords ) triggers that bug ( which adds up to what vonBlood said ).

I seem to have encountered this bug as well? Tho the error is different, but the symptoms and final result are identical...

Thank goodness I didn't play realistic; have an old save, few gamedays away and many battles old

Resurecting the thread:

I am getting a similar error message it is not crashing the program however it is message spamming my message que and I am not getting the real messages in both the combat and world map screens. Every time I transfer between combat and world map I get a brief flash of one of these messages then nothing. I have taken a screen shot and hope it will help the developers find and fix the problem before it goes to publish. Screen shot can be found here:

My system details are:
Windows XP SP2, AMD 2.51Ghz, 2GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 7600GS running 1024x768, Sound Card came with motherboard, generic band.

Events that may have lead to this bug:
I played all day (because the game is addicting)
I wiped out the Rohdoks by taking out their last castle (not city) then junting the three escaped lords. I also wiped out the Vaegris thir last outpost was a City and I encountered no problems.
The save game indicates I played for over 250 in game days.
I am collecting lords for my dungion I have about 6 of them so far (I visit them from time to time to mock them).

I have tried restarting my computer, the bug shows up again when I reload the game.

I found a solution that seems to repair all the troop errors not a wise one but it will save your games from being trashed by error codes.

if you see troop error codes appear. go to your party list and disband your whole army. still to test if companions also have to be disbanded as well. but for now remove all of them including your companions. think of it as a clean sheet.

plus once your done spend 24 in-game hours in a city or something just to make sure that the system is cleaned up

hope this helps a bit. to me i call this "Troop Leave"

Disbanding my army and or Companions didnt do anything in that regard.
Neither did "waiting it out" or "being nice to the message system"  .
