Saving the Game in "Realistic" Mode

Users who are viewing this thread

Since i alway's play in Realistic mode , I have noticed this , and it's more of an annoyance then any real problem , but i doubt would take a huge amount of effort to fix either.

When you make your character , your confronted by a screen saying which do you wish to use as your saving technique , Exit without saving , or Always save befor exit (realistic mode) , when you pick the latter of 2 you cannot save without quitting your game.

Eg. In Realistic mode , when your on world map , you want to save the game so you press esc and the only option you are confronted by is "Exit and save"

When you pick the option of exiting without saving , You press esc on worldmap , and it says Save , which saves it and takes you back to the map , and the exit without saving.

I would like it if there was the option in "Realistic Mode" to save the game 'without' exiting , it wouldn't be cheating obviously and is more handy then exiting then loading your game back up.

Obviously this is not a top-priority thing but would be recommanded for convieniance.

I think you may have missed the point of the realistic mode.

It forces you to not save-scum... ie saving before a fight, if the fight doesn't go your way, you reload the save and run away. Realistic mode prevents this. If you loose that fight, the only way to reload is to exit, and exiting saves over your game. Makes sense to me. No going back like.

I think you may have missed the point Nair.

You can only 'cheat' by being able to quit without saving. If you save your game while still playing it, everything's good. In order to load up a previous verson, you'd have to quit your current game without saving.

In the meantime, you can save the game by going to a town or talking to some party roaming the world map. (preferably something like peasants and not khergits)

All you have to do is at the end of a battle you lost, before it exits to the world map screen hit esc to pause it. Then alt + tab to minimize it, and then end task. Load your character and you are where you were before you fought the battle. Do note that it autosaves every time you exit a town, so find your battle, enter a town and exit, then fight.

While this means I admit to some shameful cheating , alt+F4 is a quicker method since it just closes the active program. However, my favorite means of super cheating is after a stray arrow hits me in the head for 74 leaving me unconscious and the game saves, I alt+F4 then rename the backup save.

Yeah, I know, I suck.

As it stands right now, I wouldn't really mind seeing a save option without exiting the game entirely. Since this game is in beta and there are some bugs, it would be nice to not have to run from Jelkala to Reyvadin again because when I caught up to the Nobleman I pressed 4 instead of 3. Although, I guess you could just play on non-realistic and tell yourself not to load just cause you lost.

But i prefer to play on realistic mode 1. Because it's more of a challenge (kinda) , 2. Because it saves 'ALOT' More often , so it reduce's the chance of the game crashing and making me loose those 10 levels i just gained from killing 500 knight's.....

Nothing against the quicksaver types but I prefer to play with an element of risk involved - as long as you dont lose everything that is. Without losing you dont appreciate winning - as in real life, I might add, grasshopper.

It would have been cooler to have been better informed just what the choice meant to my game months down the line though....
