Hi i have windows 7 64 bit and SSD (solid state drive) (C: drive which my OS is located)

Since you can write limited amount of time on SSD i do not want to Save Warband on SSd under my documents. I save a lot and i am curious about my SSd

is there a way to change the Warband Save game folder from C: My documets to some other drive let s say E:\warband Save games..

I am not sure how important that is but i read that you can write 50 000 ot 100 000 times depends on the SSD model, and when i play Warband i save a lot :))

so if you know how to that would be great !!

EDIT: i just found out my SSd can write between 1000 -10000 times which makes the situation more serious... it there is no way to move it i have to say by by warband single game...

Thanks

muratcan,

I realize your post is a bit old, so I hope you're still poking around here and haven't given up on the game yet!  :)

I'm actually an engineer who works on the flash memory used by some companies in SSDs, and I work closely with the SSD engineers.  Hopefully I can allay some of your concerns.  The thing about those write limits is that those are full-drive writes, not individual write commands.  Each time you save the game, it only writes a small bit of data, and if your SSD's firmware is worth anything, it will make sure those writes are spread out to different locations on the drive to ensure even wear, instead of repeatedly re-writing the same sector.  So don't worry too much, each time you save is not going to use up one of your 1000-10000 writes; it will only be a miniscule fraction of that.

Still, you do generally want to avoid frequent re-writing of the SSD, and it is good practice to move files that change often to a standard hard drive.  I don't know if M&B:W can change the save file location, but the good news is that Windows can.  I'm using Vista 64 bit with a similar setup, OS is on the C drive which is my SSD, and I have my data on a secondary hard drive.  If you go to your user folder, right click on "Documents" and select "Properties."  In the Properties window, there is a "Location" tab.  On this tab, you can change your documents folder to be physically stored anywhere you want, including on another drive.  Windows will still connect the folder to your user account, and anything automatically sent to the My Documents folder will get re-routed to the new location.  I've verified that this works the same way in Windows 7, and I can guarantee this works for regular M&B as that is what I'm doing right now.  I'd also recommend using the same technique to move any other folders that get frequent writes and don't need the benefit of the SSD speed, such as music, pictures, etc.

Anyway, I hope that helps.  Good luck!

Thanks Blackbird for the information :) unfortunately i stop playing mount and blade ( the only game i was playing ) because of this game i had a wrist problem... extensive mouse usage and doing works like graphic, web  desing does not really help :)

i will go to hospital this month for a scann my wrist i think i have ganglion cist,

I really miss the game, it is quite dissapointing after you played the game with a slow pc you upgraded it with workstation and then 2 months later you have this problem...  game is amazing so there is only one way to protect myself... forget it completely  :)
unfortunately I can not play this game humanly...

I just recommend using comfortable mouse and gel mouse wrist rest ( i was using it anyway)
Thanks alot and have fun !

Sorry to hear about your wrist problems, I used to have some trouble with that myself.  Changing to a better-shaped mouse made a world of difference for me (Logitech G5 in my case).  The thing about the gel wrist rests is that you should only be resting your wrist on them when the mouse isn't moving, otherwise they can cause more damage.  What seems to work best is to limit movement at the wrist, keep your wrist straight, and move everything from the elbow.  It's a little awkward at first, but once you make a habit of it it's easy, and you save yourself a lot of wear and tear.

Anyway, I hope everything goes well at the hospital.  Take care!

Sooo.... I am interested in this information though as well.  I just migrated to Win7 and cannot figure out how to use my save games from XP.  I have them stored on an external HD which is where my MY DOCS folder was in XP.  How do you point Mount&Blade back to those files?

Start a new game, save it to see where your windows 7 put the save game. Move your old save games to the same place.
